Best tri gear for $200?

OK, I have $200 in Christmas cash burning a hole in my pocket. What is the coolest stuff I could get for $200? Note…anything above $200 is right out as my wife just let me buy a new tri bike, and, since she is the Minister of Finance, is not about to approve a spending bill over and above that. I was sorta thinking about one of those Finis Swimp3 thingies…any thoughts? I already have lots of cool gadgets like a Garmin FR 305, etc…

How 'bout an aero helmet?

Kinda partial to Rotor Q-Rings, under $179 using the coupon code this week

Bike fit.

If I had $200 I would buy a very nice, warm, lightweight, waterproof jacket for spring cycling and winter running. But I have a shockingly small reserve of cycling gear. I might get a couple back up swimming suits, too. I finally replaced the one I had been wearing since May after the elastic totally and completely gave way on me 2 weeks ago. I couldn’t even wait for the suit I had coming from my mom for Christmas. I learned it’s great to have a couple back-ups!

just save it until Spring comes. you’ll really want to buy a bunch of new stuff then!

or, get some cycling shoes. or running gear (and come down to run with us)

or, spend it on a hotel in IMKY and we can all stay in your room for a weekend and train like crazy people. hehehe

I would definitely go with the Finis SwiMP3 player. Helps take the boredom from the countless laps in the pool.

Yeah, why buy an MP3 you can use anywhere when you can limit it just to the pool?

Trail running shoes < $100
ACX running tights < $100

Yeah, you’re right, you could always go this route…

Ah, that is the fancy unit that doubles as a cellular phone and metronome. I use a small Iriver that I put snuggly into my swim trunks. The waterproof case cost $10 and it came with earphones.

Used mountain bike off e-bay if you don’t have one …

Aero helmet (nothing like $200 to save 30 secs)

$200 worth of swim coaching would likely be the most valuable to you

I’m letting go of a lightly used Rudy Project Open Styon aero helmet (white size medium) for $100 shipped - you’ll have $100 left over
