I need a small but powerful trainer for my 24 y.o. Son to use in a 5th floor walk up studio in NYC. He is training for a half in Barcelona. Any ideas about what to get him? The computer trainer classes are hard to get to and expensive plus he needs the flex time to train when time is available. Thanks
Kurt Kinetic Road Machine.
My Kurt and fluid 2 seem to have similar footprints when out, at least one is not smaller enough for me to notice at a glance. Folded up though which may be a concern the kurt is a lot more compact.
Unless he is looking very cheap I’d go road machine, you can find them for about 300 new on ebay shipped, 4X ebay bucks today and tomorrow too!
Can’t go wrong with the Kurt Kinetic. Meanwhile, carpet on plywood on foam will dampen noise and vibration for the poor neighbors downstairs.
Decide on a price range.

If you get a Cycleops SuperMag pro you won’t need any noise dampening material. It doesn’t make any noise or vibrate.
happened to remember last night before my trainer ride, not sure if you still wanted to know but…
kurt was roughly 2" wider than the fluid2 at its widest point (the front feet) Since the fluid didn’t have a bike on it the front to back was hard to measure but they seemed about the same.
As far as noise, my kurt is so quiet there is a noise in my jockey wheels when warming up that is getting on my nerves.
