I mean, they are important to prevent blisters and make a good feeling during the long runs…
Which brand would you consider the best???
And also, I dont know if you have any good website that makes good running shoes report…I’ve been running with my Newtons Distance for the last 3 years (I felt really well) but I will like to try a new brand…
Weight: 70kg/155lb
Height: 1.74m/5.7feet
PR 5k: 18:00
Only 1 marathon in IM Florianopolis 2015: 3:50h
Despite the cost, I’m a big Swiftwick fan. That doesn’t mean that they’ll work for you though. Smartwools are nice too (even in the summer).
Runningwarehouse.com will have shoe reviews from people who’ve actually bought and run in them. The site also have a great shipping and return policy if you don’t like what you bought.
I live in an area with a lot of rain, so my feet get wet a lot. So far, I have never gotten a blister wearing Ibex socks. They are the only thing I wear on my long runs.
Brooks Pure Flow or Pure Cadence. They won’t last as long as some shoes because the foam is so lightweight, but that’s exactly what I want in a shoe. The ingenious sewn-in tongue means it will never slip off to one side. They last much longer than stated if you run light on your feet.
I currently run/race with Hoka Cliftons but have also run with Netwons. Aasics R/L fitted socks–the ones with NO COTTON. I sweat A LOT and live in Houston so every run is a humid nasty sweat fest. Did IMTX 2016 with the last 4 miles being in pouring rain and standing water…still have never had a single blister over several years of training runs and races (5 full marathons, nine 70.3 and three full iron races, most in hot and humid conditions.
Of course, I grew up in south Florida walking on hot sandy beaches and still never wear shoes unless I have to, so the bottoms of my feet are very tough.
I LOVE my Darn Tough running socks. I cannot tell new from old by feel or comfort. I cant even guess how many miles are on my oldest pair, more than a thousand for sure.
I think I use the No-show ultra-lite, but they have a new running line of socks now so I might check some of those out for fun. Not that I need any. I have 4 pair of Darn Tough and that is more than enough to keep in rotation for me.
Oh, and their socks have a well-regarded Lifetime guarantee. I have never needed to take them up on it but I have heard they will stand behind their socks no matter what. I think there is a legend that they once replaced a sock that went through a dog’s digestive tract.
You are going to think I am crazy… but (I believe) the best socks out there are the womens ankle socks at Target. Super thin. Polypro or some other synthetic material. They do great when wet and wear very well. Better yet, they cost $1.50 a pair. I am a male with size 9 feet and they fit just right. They are the only thing I have worn for training and racing for the last 7-8 years.
I know they won’t pass the ST carbon and $$$$ test but they have sure worked well for me. If my feet were any bigger they would not work and they don’t have an equivalent product in their mens department.
The Saucony Kinvara is loved by many, including me. I have worn every version of them so far except for the newly released 7, which is supposed to be “the bomb”.
I think I will try the Stance, I heard very good reviews…or maybe a pair of swift
On adittion Oakley running socks are coming soon acoording to a friend of mine that works for them (triathlete too)…told me they were amazing…will try, I consider Oakley as a very good brand
.
Second vote for Asics. The Quick Lyte socks are the best I’ve ever worn. Super light and thin, they don’t hold any moisture, and they are inexpensive (I think usually like $12 for a 3-pack).
Love my Switwicks for longer runs - zero blisters other than because of shoes. I’m a big Hoka fan and adore the Clifton 1 - the Clifton 2 has a much narrower toe box and resulted in blisters for me between the toes. I’m at 900+ miles on my last pair of Clifton 1’s and am praying that the 3 reverts to the width of the 1.
