Best shoe for running sockless?

since i got my pearl tri-road shoes, I dont’ need socks on the bike. so it’s time to ditch em for the run also.

I run in saucony omnis now - awesome shoe but not that nice without sox.

I need a little bit of stability not too much.

I’ve been able to run sockless in the Pearl Izumi Vital+. Never attempted anything over a 10k though.

I had a feeling a pearl might be suggested.

and that’s not a problem because I don’t do anything longer than oly. yet anyway…

I find the old Asics Magic Racer (I think they don’t make them anymore… DS Racer now) very comfy when it comes to running sockless for sprint and olympic distance tri.

For longer distances I’ve only used the Asics DS Trainner and they also “perfom” well without socks.

They actually do still make both the Magic Racer and DS Racers. I have this year’s Magic Racer and they are excellent barefoot (provided they fit your feet of course) and surprisingly cushioned for the lightest flat in the ASICS line up.

Pearl Izumi Float are great for sockless. Very “airy” and light. Still took a good month of blisters though to get my feet worked up to running 45 minutes without socks. The inside is nicely finished with no sems and such

I used the nike air max Solas during the Florida Half. Nice comfortable inside. They are expensive, but damn near one of the best pairs of running shoes I’ve used. Admittidly though, they are not for everyone.

Asics Gel Nimbus.

Depends on your foot.

I never had problems with running sockless in any of the Nike’s I’ve had until my first 1/2. If you run sockless, take out the insoles and crayon the body glide on. lube the inside of the shoes as well as you can too. If you get some thin slippery socks you can put them on in under 10secs easily. Wright socks work well.

VITRUVIANS!!! I am on my second pair and honestly can say that they are as comfortable without as they are with socks. I have gone up to 120mins w/o socks, and tend not to use them now to save on laundry. vits have a very smooth inside - no seams which sometimes wd rub on other shoes.

thanks for the heads up on that unique company - which model do you have?
