So there it is, I’m struggling to find a good (not entry level) helmet to use for everything, training and competition. The most important aspect for me is size, I really want a small helmet so I don’t look like a jerk, anyways what’s your take on anything less than $100 USD. THANKS
No definite answer here. I think for $100 you can find a very nice road helmet. Go to your LBS’s and try on several. Pick the one that fits the best and you like the most. You may be able to find a last year’s model on clearance to save a little more.
And don’t worry about looking like a jerk. The jerks are the people who don’t wear a helmet. I don’t think any ST’er would call you a jerk for wearing a helmet. Maybe an idiot if you wear it backwards, but not a jerk.
giro pneumo on ebay… you can probably do $100 but probably not after shipping. you’re LBS will be the most expensive way to go.
Have you tried the Spiuk Zirion? $80 to $90. Same adjustment system and padding with insect netting as the top end road and Kronos helmet.

Bell Ghisallo. This was my last helmet, and I loved it. For the price, it’s light has large vents and is comfortable. I have the Ironman Kona which can be gotten online for less than $100. It’s best feature is the large vents, but the padding doesn’t hold up as well and I don’t think it looks as good as the Ghisallo.
I live in Texas so the amount of ventilation is key.
