Best Road Crank for under $1k

I am looking to put the finishing touches on a road bike build and can’t decide what crank to use. I have a DA 7800 but thought about upgrading to something like the Easton EC90 Carbon Crank. Anyone have an opinion on the what crank to use? The rest of the components are DA 7800. I don’t mind spending the money to get a quality crank if it is worth the investment.

I have the easton crankset. Really like it. I took off the esaton chainrings and put on the DA 7800 rings. Perfect combination.

I run a Vuma Quad and have been really happy with it.

I like the pinch bolt design that Shimano and Easton use. I think it’s stronger than FSA or SRAM. Campy or Fulcrum would work, too.

Depending on drivetrain, Shimano or Campy. Easton if you’re eclectic.

devils advocate:
keep the crank and the money. I am sure it is still in great shape. IF YOU REALLY HAVE MONEY TO BURN, then I envy you!

of all thecranks I have used, my favorite has been the DA 7800 crank. It isnt the lightest but it is super stuff and lasts forever.

I was under the impression that a 7800 crank was super high quality, stiff, all-around great crank. I didn’t think there was another crank out there that was $1,000 better than the 7800. If you don’t have any other areas to upgrade, or a better way to spend $1k, I envy you too.

That DA crank is awesome. It doesn’t have the exotic bling factor of other cranks. So if you want that…the EC90 sounds cool.

cranks are red herring
just get one with a bottom bracket that lasts a long time and enjoy
