Best Road Bike for under $2k?

Hey all–

Thinking about getting a road bike and am looking for opinions on the best bang for the buck bike under $2k. I am interested in checking out quite a few and making sure the fit is correct. Looking for ideas about what would be in the ballpark. Ult/105mix would work fine. Looking for a good all around bike that will be durable. Thanks.

I was at Performance Bike Store yesterday and I saw a 2004 Fuji Professional with DA/10 for $2050. I thought that was a great deal.

Our local Scheels had a Trek 5200 on sale for 1999. I don’t know if this is something unusual and local, or a deal you might be able to find elsewhere. But, OCLV + Ultegra for under 2K, you can’t beat that, IMO.

Are you looking to do tris or just road racing? I think the Cervelo Soloist would be a good choice if you’re going to do some multisport.

A lot of good bikes out there I’m sure others will give you a different opinion but two I would point are are listed. The right answer is the bike that fits you the best for the money you want to spend. I got the prices from either the manufacture’s web page or nytro.com.

Specialized Allez Comp $1650 full ultegra carbon fork and seatpost. The Allez line has some bang for the buck. The sport model is a 105 ultegra mix.

Felt F50 $1670 full ultegra except for the bottom bracket and crankset. Cranks are carbon so if you’re a bigger person +200 they may not be right for you. Look at the other posts regarding FSA carbon cranks on the board its been discussed at length.

I am partial to steel, so I would say Cervelo Superprodigy.
