Any opinions/experiences on the best race wheels for around $1000 (maybe $1200)? For a pair, not just one - I just can’t stomach spending $2K or more for wheels). I’ve looked at some from FSA, Mavic, Rolf, Easton,… but can’t decide.
Thanks,
Dave

Hed 3 $1094 bucks for a pair of 700cc shimano clincher it would be tough to beat them although I would have no problem buying some of the $1000 Rolfs.
New Zipp 404’s can be had near your upper limit at wheelbuilders.com

Oh man, Tom D showed me some wheels yesterday and I can’t remember the name.
Carbon wheel, looked to be around 50mm deep, light, comes with a double wheel bag for approx $1000.
Maybe he’ll chime in.
Look on Ebay for used set of 404’s
I use a Renn disk ~ $450 and a used HED CX front from Ebay ~ $150

Thanks, but I don’t want to spend $2000. All of the 404’s I’ve seen are around $1900/set (unless I’m not lookin’ in the right place - always possible).

FWIW, I think it’s actually wheelbuilder.com no?
They’re currently showing sets of HED Jets for $995.

i have the disk and front, as well as the back for a total of 1100
i am sure you could do without on of the wheels, and have it be much cheaper. i love them, great and fast.
Jarets combo is hard to beat. Personally I like and use a Renn 575 disk on the back and HED 3 on the front with the option of another HED 3 on the back, which I have only used one, in Hawaii. The Renn/HED combo should be right around $1k
Don’t know much about them, but I think Flash Point wheels are close to your price range. Zipp spin off wheel.

yeah thats what the front wheel is in my post
.
There’s always the option of looking around for a good deal on used wheels. I got a set of HED3’s for $600 when the other gentlemen was “upgrading” from clinchers to tubluars.
