Best place to stay in St. Croix?

Got my spot for 70.3, where should we stay?

Looking for reasonable budget, decent spot, safe, etc.

The Buccaneer. Its a bit expensive, but nicer than the other options.

We stayed at the Divi. It’s a bit of a drive to the race area, but it is a really nice hotel. Also a bit pricey.

Stayed at the Divi 2 yrs ago. Although the hotel is nice I had a bad experience(terrible service, especially in the dinning room) and they have you trapped there. It is a long haul to town(race site) and the cabs are expensive. I would look for something downtown, even if it wasnt as nice as the Divi.

Agree. The Divi is nice but it is on the opposite side of the island from all the “goings on”. There are a lot of other options that are quite nice and quite a bit cheaper (the Buc = $$$$) right in Chrisianstead. The hotel on the cay (beach where swim starts) looked really nice. My GF said she would have liked to stay there after she saw where it was. The cabs are easy to use but still I wouldn’t want to be at the Divi, too far away. Do a search on here and you’ll find postings from last year as well. The Buc and the Divi are very nice hotels and provide a lot of specific amenities for the athletes. But if you’d like to spend a little less for more than adequate housing without the catoring to the athlete you can definitely do that and have a great experience. This is a great venue. One of my favorites. I’ll go back again.

We just rented a house for a week. It was a lot less expensive than 4 people at the buc.

The Bucaneer is great. Easy ride on race morning to transition (you’ll want a headlamp, but just a small one is fine). Plus fantastic views. And you are right on the run course should you want to practice. It is marginally more expensive than the other hotels, but I think well worth it.

I’ll second the Buccaneer. I think they have some less expensive rooms up in the main hotel area. The ones by the ocean are more expensive but very nice. Plus the views from the restaurant at sunset are worth the price of the hotel. And they have the best waiter on the island, a guy named Jacky who is hopefully still there, I think he was planning on trying to open a new place with his wife to serve French/Senegalese food. If he’s still there it’s worth at least eating there once.

My family has some property in st. croix. Beautiful location, and only about 15 mins from race site. If anyone would be interested in renting it, let me know, so I can get some more info on it.
