Best place to buy "The 6 Essentials"?

I am referring to the 6 essentials in Tom’s article

http://www.bikesportmichigan.com/features/flatkit.shtml

Can these be purchased as one item? Online? If so, where? what’s the best price?

I realise I could look all this stuff up on google or elsewhere, but hey when you know friends that have likely made similar purchases, you ask them for advice.

Mi B-day is is a coupla weeks, and I am looking for a link that I can e-mail to my family that keeps asking what I want. I’d rather get something from them instead of a check.

Any help? I’ll check back when I’m done riding.

send them the websight for your local bike shop.

This stuff is readily available and inexpensive. the internet is not the solution to all of your bike shopping needs.

LBS closed.

Closest one is Chicago. Family lives 3 hours South of Chicago. Just trying to find the least intrusive way. Triathlon is not big in my area, shops are limited.

I have yet to visit a high end bike shop that does not have inner tubes, saddle bag, CO2 cartridges, and puncture repair kit. Do you need to ask people on the web where to get it? Just go to a bike shop.

Call us: 313 278 1350

Ask for Mike Aderhold.

Why two levers? I’ve only ever needed one.

Some people use two. One to hold the tyre out of the rim and the other to go around. I use only one with no problems.

I just recently moved from IL and have been to a lot of bike shops south of Chicago. If they are three hours south of Chicago, I’m pretty sure there are shops in Champaign, Decatur, Peoria and Springfield that might be an option if they prefer to shop in person. Here’s a link to a bunch.

However, I just saw Tom’s note and say call him. I once drove from Chicago to Detroit for a fitting and can tell you that his folks will treat you right whether in person or over the phone.

Good luck,

Geez, guys help the poor man out.

Call Demerly’s place or have your friends and family checkout www.supergo.com or www.performancebike.com.

<< Geez, guys help the poor man out.>>

Read it:

<<Can these be purchased as one item? Online? If so, where? what’s the best price? >>

This guy is from a different planet. We are talking about two levers and an inner tube for heaven sake.

It’s cool. I should have known better before I posted the question (I’m not new here).

I’ll just find it online myself, locate a bike shop that can have it all packaged together for someone in my family (tri-illeterate) to pick up, or just call Tom. I did not think it was a big deal to ask. It’s a gift that I won’t be picking up myself.

I figured it was like buying a car, if you’re gonna buy a Ford, and all your friends have Fords, asking them where the best place to buy a Ford seemed reasonable.

The 6 essentials just seemed like something that would come all packaged as one.

I wasn’t trying to be lazy. I would love it if the LBS shop in Peru had not closed. They were awesome, and I was able to buy quite a few things at very reasonable prices, and they never tried to sell me something I did not need.

Pluto, c’mon bro. You’re making a point that does not apply. Read the post. It’s an idea for a gift from family. If it were just me running to an LBS, they’d be purchased already. Anyway, I’m looking for a tool bag, glueless patch kit, valve tube, tire levers, inflator unit, and 12g CO2 cylinder … all sold as one item. And I was asking for the best place to buy it from.

If this is not doable, just say so … don’t change the situation so you can make some sort of point. Thanks for testing my restraint.

No it is just two levers and an inner tube. Stop complicating everything.

Sure, that’s what I asked, “Where can I buy two levers and a tube?”
.

“Where can I buy two levers and a tube?”

Call Tom’s shop.

That shoulda been my first move … they wrote the article.

Thanks folks.

Quick Update: Decided just to pocket the “birthday checks” and get the stuff from an LBS. Least-intrusive method … and family didn’t need to order something from an out-of-state bike shop.

Anyway, went to Bloomington Cycle and Fitness, and got everything for $50, met some very nice people (the co-owner is a retired middle school teacher, so we had something in common), and found a semi-local place (an hour’s drive) to get stuff and possibly a new bike next summer.

Thanks for those that gave ideas.

Dude

you got ripped off.

The total should cost you about $25.00

Wonderful.

Where were ya a month ago? grin

don’t worry, I can see spending $50 and I can see spending $25, you probably got nicer stuff, my essentials kit is probably $40 for road and $50 or so for mountain.
