That’s my budget. Need new pedals soon. Looks like the Shimano Ultegra and the Speedplay Zero Chromo can be had for that price.
Any suggestions or critiques of the zero v. ultegra?
many thanks.

Zeros.
Light, adjustable float, dual sided entry, and comes in colors.
speed play. easy to use and light. the float is great. check around I got mine for $120 online. cant remember the site though
Time RXS Carbon (Not the $300 Titan). You can find them for about $140 online.

They are less well known, but I like my Miche Pedals very much. They are similar to Look pedals, but with a slightly different cleat. The 702 model I have is $174 online, but the 502 model is $94. Nice wide platform gives a good solid feel to each pedal stroke.
Sorry, I am going to disagree on the Speedplays. These things can be a real pain in the ass to get set up right.
I prefer the Ultegra SPD-SL’s, which I have been funning for almost 2 years now. They are easy, great to walk in, have a very low stack height, and have never, ever squeaked like my Looks did.
SpeedPlay Zero.
I love my Zero Ti’s. Not 1 problem to report ever.
I have 2 sets.
Dave,
Why the Time’s? Even though they are carbon they are still heavier than the Speedplays and less float.
I see they have something called adjustable Q factor. What’s that?
If you can find a 20% off coupon for performance the stainless model will be just below $150 or the cro-mo version can be had for less. I would go cro-mo, unless someone can tell me why you should upgrade to stainless.

Speedplay.
The float on them is very good and I like the amount of surface area to apply pressure. I think Tom D. also likes the new Time pedals. I was always a Look pedal guy but when the new Keo required a different cleat I decided to try something new and boy am I glad I did. I now have them on all my bikes.

yeah, Speedplay or Ultegra, I have both, speedplay on the road bike, ultegra on the tri. Both great pedals. I actually prefer the Speedplay X series but a running dismount on them is a little sketchier so I use the Ultegras for the tri bike as I don’t have to clip in clip out as much while riding.
Go stainless, the bearings are a LOT better than the chromo and they will last longer. My pair of chromos lasted a while but met a little earlier death than I expected.
