Fun watching Lemond riding for Boyd. A young Twigg and Carpenter. Wide World of Sports, commentary by John Tesh and John Howard. *international classic, Phinney winning the crit with Patro Jiminiz (man that guy was tiny) overall. They showed the start of HR monitors and electric therapy to help muscles that could be worn while riding. In the re zingers of the late 70’s, the talk of race bikes costing 1000 to 1200, with componants made for weight savings, ie, saddle with leather on nylon with ti rails. Lots of great stuff. On a side note. girls of my era were best, with cut off shorts:)!. Just riding for a couple of hrs on the rollers waitining for the snow melt watching old stuff. Its why this year anything less than a 1/2 I am riding a Pinarello Prologo funny bike…Just got my Oakley pilots.

Hrm. I believe I am in some of the crowd shots, 81, and 83-85. Cool race, it was the bomb diggity!

As I said, the days of girls in cut off shorts…Sweet…Its just fun watching that stuff. Its funny, bike fitting for road bikes is the same as then as now…but Tri positions, it is endless. Same for all the different exotic frame designs now. I know it is the classic age thing, but it seemed simpler and more fun then.

Is the Prologo done? Did the C-Record come through?
Post a pic
DB
Is the Prologo done, no. The c-record did come through, with an IKO disc, Ambrosia rim front, Moser bars, Oakley pilots, cinelli nos 88aero helmet, delta brakes, original cage and bottle, leather shoes with cleats for toe clips, wobler 18 and hutcinsison ssport tubulars (80") and dugast and murtan muquet tires, everest red chain, selle italli red turbo saddle, yes. Will post pictures soon. A freind touched up scratches on the frame. Got all original decals which will then be clear coated.
I turn 50 this year and am done with the latest greatest. This is much more fun. Anyting a half or less I will use this bike. For IM,I will use my road bike, and will hang the Prologo in the shop of the sport store I work at.
I am also looking to get a Moser frame, its the all red TT frame at this site, guy is great to work with http://www.matuzmaster.hu/en/vintage-frames/#moser probably have to scroll down. Pics coming soon. Thanks for asking and remembering. Hope you had a great holiday!
Bump, is everone young?
Dude…I just got some flashbacks…American Flyers…Morgul-Bismark…Shaver-sport…MMMMMMmmmmmmmmm
Had some original Factory Pilots…wore them out…wish I still had 'em.
MMMM Good times.
PS…Ive got some C Record Cranks. 175mm, sort of scratched up, with rings, and c record bottom bracket. Circa 86-7. If you want them , let me now, we could work out a deal
Thanks. I have everrything but will keep in mind. I am going to put a pair of clinchers on to train with. All the c-record is almost like new to new. I am curious to find out if I am any slower on it. I do not think I could ride a 700 rear and 650 front for mor than a 1/2 though. Vast majority of my training will be on my road bike and most training on the prologo will be on rollers. Cheers
They should bring back the “slow” race.
Red Zinger-Coors Classic, I still have my Coors Light Racing kit (my sister works at coors) from 1987, I remeber watching them climb the Wall outside of Boulder, we would ride our bikes up from Arvada Colorado and then race home. These races are what got me into the sport of bike racing and from there the transition to Triathlons. My thoughts were why only do one sport when you can suck just as bad at three. Still did the USCF racing thing for about 5 years until I was sent overseas, then it was Triathlon based racing with the odd bike race thrown in.
