money’s not an issue, but why throw it away? My favorite shorts are Pearl Izumi Attack shorts. $60, wear well, no noticable seams, great pad. I have Pearl Izumi $140 bibs and prefer the Attack shorts.
I have limited experience, but I like my Koobi’s better than my PI’s

Cycling: Santini Gel Twist Bib and Brace

Its all about FIT! buy the pair that fits.
Assos bibs. Hands down.
Casteli also makes a nice short, as does Pearl Izumi.
I read a review of those (Santini Gel twist bib) in Velonews or Pez or somewhere recently. That guy thought they were the best he’s ever tried.
Santini Gel Twist Bib and Brace
I’ll second that. Best damn cycling shorts, period.
For races: Desoto tri shorts. Durable and feel good running and riding.
Even if money is not an issue, we have a phenominal pair of Hind bibshorts that we’re selling for $65 each. It’s an amazing deal on a very comfortable pair of shorts. Good chamois, good material, good stitching. If you’ve never tried bibshorts, these are the ones to try. Personally, I’m never going back, and now I’m considering getting one of those one-piece tri suits to mimic the feeling when I race.

I really like the Pearl Izumi Ultra Sensor shorts. I seem to get less hotspots with these shorts than any other.

Assos FI 13 Bibs! The Best Ever!
Can’t tell you what the best shorts on the market are, since I haven’t ridden in all of them.
Best i’ve used have been Hincapie bibs
at #2 spot, Nike bibs, but wore out relatively quickly
3 - Pearl Izumi bibs (10 years ago, no idea what the current versions are like)
4 Voler bibs
5 Cannondale bibs
6 any of the various regular shorts I’ve tried (cannondale, hind, a few otheres that I forget)
7 Verge bibs (horrible chamois, but I’ve heard that they are much improved recently)
i hope you guys are right…i just bought 2 pairs…![]()

qrguy you are nothing but a smart a_ s. and i am going to tell mom that you are making fun of these nice people that tell us that fit is a very complicated thing . With all that is involved in fit how can you make jokes?
Listen to your big Bro and be nice. YES even to that tridork cervelogal!!!!!!!!!
Franswaaaaaaa rides a 42cm bike now without fit he could have ended up with a 43!
I bought a pair of the Attack shorts after reading a lot of good stuff about these, but I have mixed feelings towards them. The fabric seems too stretchy, so the chamois doesn’t seem to sit right, and shifts around a lot. I feel more like I am wearing a diaper than bike shorts. I know they aren’t too big, because I’m a 33 and I have the medium shorts.
I also bought a pair of the Quest shorts(the cheaper style) and had the exact same experience.
Most of my other shorts are Performance Elite shorts, which I think are okay, and very reasonably priced.
I’ve tried a bunch of them…have Castelli high-end progetto’s (sp?) and mid-range vario-somethings, Assos Mille- whatevers, several PI’s (which I hate), some Garneau’s, Voler’s, Santini’s and Giordana’s. With money as absolutely no hindrance I’d have a dozen pair of Assos bibs, being that it has to matter at some point. I keep coming back to…drum roll please… Performance Brand shorts. Their highest end shorts (bibs) somehow or another always seem to be great for me. I actually choose to wear them over just about everything else I have (except the Assos). I know the running mentality with cyclists (especially triathletes) is more $$ = better stuff, but i would really and truly recommend these to anyone. Now this year they have copied the elastic chamois in the Assos and Santini’s and moved to something like 12 or 16 panels, which might raise them even another notch, and for the price…
Another great one that I bet very, very few of you have tried is Boure. They’re Ned Overend’s company and their high-end 8-panel deal is definitely in my top 3.
PS I wouldn’t tri in anything other than my DeSoto Power Tri’s
Assos #1
Sugoi
Both are very nice, the assos have a huge terry cloth area which is very “twig and berry” friendly, the prosline lycra is too nice.
Sugoi have a nice pad, fit well, now that I lost 10 lbs and the rough texture of the material is very durable.
After 20 years, spending lot’s of very intimate time with everything from Nashbar to Assos, I keep coming back to Hind. Certainly not the flashiest, never the most expensive, just plain, simple, durable, and comfortable.
I find this the case with most Hind apparel - these days I have a hard time shelling out the extra bucks for any other brand…
