Best non wax Earplugs..Weak question I know

Hey, was wondering if anyone had any Earplugs that work well for them. I have these TYR ones that some sort of rubber or silicone and shaped kind of like a snail I guess to mimick the shape of your ear. They are the most annoying pieces of crap…I have to screw with them for about 10 minutes just to get them right. The wax ones just dont get along with me…anything good out there?

Mack’s aquablock earplugs work well for me. I am very susceptible to ear-water problems. I’ve worn these in cold mid-50s degree and hot 90+ degree water with no problems. I used to use the silicon/wax and they would sometimes fall out and dry up, etc. I got the Mack’s at Tri-sports.

I use the Speedo Silicone Ear plugs - I get dizzy in cold water, and they work wonders at keeping the water out. It was wierd getting used to them, as everything gets so quiet!

I like the Aquasphere ear plugs: http://www.aquasphereswim.com/us/index.php/products/accessories/162

or Mack’s AquaBlocks: http://www.trisports.com/macaqear.html
.

Agree on the AquaBlocks. I find this general style works best for me. Lots of similar generic options available at a pharmacy.

Ill try the macks…thanks

I use them for all my water sports.

BTW not a weak question.

Its the smallest thing but if I am getting water in my ear it just throws me completley off…I have ear issues in general though

It’s not a small thing. My ears, for whatever reason, are really prone to getting water in them so plugs are a necessity. I don’t need my ear canals filled with water for the rest of the race. It’s a legit medical concern.

Doc’s Pro Plugs if you must. Very minimal hearing loss. YOU MUST GET THE RIGHT SIZE! Sometimes one ear hole is smaller (that’s me) so you have to buy two pair :-(.

I don’t use plugs often, but when I do…

Usually surf shops have them and you can try different sizes (eeeewwwwww!) to get the fit right. Bring rubbing alcohol.

They are the best if you want to be able to hear. If you’re going to the firing range, not so good.

I have a medical condition where if any water get in my ear I get extremely dizzy, like puke dizzy. I had a custom set of silicone plugs made by an audiologist that are molded to my ears. They cost me $60 and allow NO water in. They also block out most noise which I find relaxing at the start line of a race. The company I used is called Westone and the product I use is called AquaNot. Below is a link to their products. You will have to go to an audiologist to get them made but if you can swing it they are worth their weight in gold. PM me if you have questions. Good luck

+1 ], this is what my 4 year old uses. She picked out the colors (green and white swirl)
