I currently have two below saddle mounted water bottle cages on an x lab super wing, I also have a speedfill that is frame mounted with a straw tube. I am looking to get a new hydration set up as my water bottles tend to fall out at higher speeds and the frame mounted speedfill is getting old.

At the risk of sounding like a smartass, Shiv integrated bladder. I’ve tried just about everything else. Shiv bladder, plus a bottle cage for an extra bottle, which I then pour into the bladder when it’s empty, and get another bottle if I need to. (Decent bike handling skills are needed…) For other bikes, bottle or aerodrink between handlebars.
I’ve never ever had water bottles fall out. Bend the cages a little so they hold the bottles a little tighter. Or get new cages.
I’ve never used xlab type behind-saddle hydration. Bottles tend to fall out of those a little too easily.
Bottles should not be falling out or launching on a rear carrier, whether it be single or dual bottle carrier. There are 3 things to consider if this happens: 1. Type of bottles using, 2. the type of cages used, 3. the angle of the cages/carrier.

Candice - I have had the same issue as Gilbert, the number of bottles I have lost during a race can’t even be measured. I do love my x lab wing, but I am not sure it is set up correctly and I have the right cages on there.
I would love your advice on this as I think x lab makes a great product.

I’ve tried a few set-ups. My favorite is an xlab torpedo between the aerobars. I went with the “refill upgrade” kit; which consists of everything but the mount-cage. I started with a regular bottle cage zip-tied between the aerobars and the torpedo fit fine. Then I tried no cage at all. I just use a velcro strap and the torpedo fits perfectly snug laying right on the aerobars. No bounce and no splashing. Granted, my bars are close enough together to make this feasible. When I need more liquid I have an Arundel Chrono II on my seatpost.
