I dont see any of them as a best buy myself. I mean they are all great, but what is your goal here? You have Ti, Carbon and Aluminum frames listed, so I am not sure what you are looking for.
I’m not really sure what you mean buy best buy…
But all things considered. IF you could be positioned in correctly on all of these bikes I doubt there would be a significant performance (speed) difference.
There would be a diference in feel though.
So if the your speed on the bike is going to be pretty much the same, I would get the cheapest one.
But not to beat a dead horse but I would get the one that fits… I don’t knwo abotu you but 5000 dollars is a lot of money to be spending on a full bike. Especially one that does not fit. The peace of mind of gettign expert advice is worth the money I would save by buying on the internet or something like that
You´re right, I wasn´t very specific. My maingoal is to get as aero as possible, preferably in longdistance duathlons. I´m not that tall (175 cm, 64 kg), so I´m no big-gear masher. Right now I´m riding a titanium roadbike with a straight post and the saddle as forward, as possible, and use dropbars with an Deda Aeroblue clip on. I guess I will be much faster (or less slow, aiming for longdistance speed of 35-37 km/h) if I get the appropriate equipment.
Quintana Roo Tiphoon- Sexy tri bike. Don’t expect the same street style around a group of roadies though. Lighter than the Blade, just a little less aero.
Cervelo P3- About the most aero of the bunch. I don’t like the paint. Probalby a little rougher than the Ti bikes.
Kuota Kalibur- Good luck finding one. Nice as far a carbon goes. Other than that, I have no idea.
Felt DA- The sexiest bike here. If I could get anyone of these for free, that’d be it. Fairly aero, should handle great. Probably a little less comfy.
Isaac- I’ll say it right now, never seen one.
Litespeed Saber- Probably the most comfy of the bunch. Not much going for it aerodynamically. Decent ride for the price.
If being as aero as possible is your goal the adage of getting a bike that fits holds even more true. Think about it this way from the front (of the bike) the thing that covers the largest surface area is yor body not the bike… the most aero bike aint going to do shit if you can’t stay in the aero bars or if your body is sticking up like a sail.
If you are in teh market for such an expensive frame why don’t you also add in teh costom frame makers (serotta, and yaqui) specifically. With those two manufacturers you have all of the materials covered (aluminum, steel, and ti… no carbon though) that way you can be sure that you are getting the best fitting bike possible. (serotta does not charge extra for custom geomoetry as an aside)
If you are interested in custom serotta, and live on the North East I would reccomend callin Paul Levine (http://www.signaturecycles.com/) if you are interested in yaqui go to http://www.yaquiusa.com/home_dl.html both of those people come highly reccomended on this site.
Well, I live in the north east. Unfortunately the north east of Denmark, so the custom fitters are living far from here. And we haven´t got the great fitters in our country, so buying a triathlon-bike is for my part “trial and error”. But I guess I have the numbers figured out, or at least I can make the mentioned frames fit (more or less).
Or maybe I should contact Walser. He makes people so aero that loosing 15% of the power output is acceptable because more is gained by the aerodynamic positioning :-).
The KUOTA kalibur are available all over the USA & Canada, I bought mine in California …Laguna Cyclery ( www.lagunacyclery.net ), I know that Top Cycle palm beach (FL) have some to, as R & A cycle (NY), even Nytro will have some they told me. or La Bicicletta www.labicicletta.com . I spoke with Christian at the Brielle Cyclery NJ www.briellecyclery.com they have it. Or Robert (AL) www.tri-itbicycleshop.com . All of them have been very helpfull in my decision between P3, airfoild…what a bike Monocoque Carbon very light & fast…you can read on Normann Stadler website all is comment about the new KALIBUR. Very Unique & Niche.
I will say that I have been lucky to find the KUOTA product that now I just loving it, fit extremely well, nice range for adjustment (seatpost rail).
We just need to look you will find some KUOTA stuff.
A Tiemeyer custom built will be around $1200.00 he will even give you a deal on a Reynolds fork custom paint also Mine was built with the 96 project aero tubing
.
The original poster was looking for a frameset. $699, frame/fork (carbon steerer)/Cane Creek hs. If you want to compare parts on the P2K to the Van Dessel, we can do that too. P2K, junk–Van D, not junk.
I don’t know much about the Van D, but it is cheap and looks pretty decent, that’s all I’m trying to get across.
Both bikes are ultegra equipped. The Cervelo has a carbon seatpost and syntace bars vs. Ritchie. Forks are different and saddles but I’m confused about how the parts on a P2K are junk? As a disclaimer, I don’t ride a Cervelo, but I wouldn’t hesitate to add the P2K to a short-list of bikes to buy.
Well, except for the adjustable dropouts, steep geometry, and wheel cut-out extending below the b.b.
This isn’t a slam on your bike. I’ve never heard of Abici bikes, but it looks solid. What kind of seatpost arrangement does it use? That’s a really long seat tube.
