Or worst, depending on your point of view
I hate diving, but admit it is an art. This was just awful.
But it is also the reason that I see lots of kids (think U8) trying dives.
I want instant replay in soccer (and basketball for that matter). If you flop without being touched to draw a yellow/red card in soccer or a technical in basketball and the review shows it, the card or technical gets applied to you.

I’m not positive, but, I thought the NBA was reviewing games now and fining players for flopping.
Was really expecting a different kind of diving. That can’t be real though, can it?

You might be right.
Where I was thinking was how in NCAA bball they review stuff all the time to see if someone swung an elbow. You have the guys doing the soccer flop deal with no contact. I remember an Indiana v. Michigan State game where Cody Zeller grabbed Adreian Payne’s arm and tried to make it look like Payne hit him in the nuts. Then he flops around on the ground trying to draw the T. On replay it was beyond obvious what he did. If I’m writing the rules Zeller gets a T and Payne gets to kick him in the nuts.

FIFA is not interested in stopping diving. There are red card rules in place for diving in the box. When was the last time you saw one issued? When was the last time a ref was fined for not issuing a red for diving?

I’ve never gotten a red card for diving in the box. And I hope I never do.
What about diving in a red box?
That’s embarrassing. I love watching soccer but the one thing I don’t like about it is the diving where some of these guys act like they got shot even at the most minimal/incidental contact. Seeing it more in other sports (basketball, hockey and even football where guys will play hurt to stall a drive/momentum) as well.
Funny story from way back when Claude Lemieux was with the Canadiens and would regularly flop to the ice to try to draw penalties. At one point he got hurt for real and was down, and when the trainer started to go over the boards to tend to him he was stopped by coach Pat Burns. The trainer said “He’s really hurt this time” to which Burns (who had gotten tired of his own player’s act) replied “I don’t care if he’s dead, leave him out there!”

At least the other player actually touched him before he went to the ground. Sometimes that doesn’t even happen.
He should from this forward be addressed as Pussy and never be allowed to play organized sports again. Absolutely disgusting.

Agreed completely. And add “beaten” to the above.

Well he was fouled, so I’m not sure he really dived. What he did was exaggerate the contact. Players do that all the time trying to get players booked, obviously not as extreme as this guy. Surely FIFA could put an end to it by having refs book players for unsportmanslike play if they feign being injured and then are up running around a few seconds later.
Sure he wasn’t having a seizure?
Holy crap that was awful and yes I watched the vine about 19 times. Good grief I can’t look away…
Beaten or giving him something to really flop around about was a given.

Instand replay would be completely unworkable in soccer.
What I would prefer is for games to be reviewed after the fact, with cards issued for that type of behavior.

It’s generally a yellow for a dive in the box, and I’ve seen plenty issued. Still, they aren’t issued enough, but that’s often because it’s difficult for the ref to catch a dive in real time.

“Touched”?..
