Best deal on Powertap?

Besides E-bay… anyone?? Thanks

The best price I could get in the last 3 days was $1099 for the PT SL (non-wireless). SunCyclery was the dealer (Google them for their website). Admittedly, my search was not exhaustive. Best deals are on E-bay (of course).

not sure why you are so opposed to ebay. ebay doesn’t always mean used…

If it’s E-bay you object to, rather than used, I have one for sale.

Ive heard of people getting them at performance bike for 799. I guess they go on sale for 999 then they use the 20 percent off coupon. I know its been posted on here before and you may be able to find the specifics if you do a search.

Do yourself a big favor if you are spending that kind of dough and get a setup from Rich at Wheelbuilder.com. Their service is outstanding. They can build just about any PowerTap setup you want. They’ll usually meet or beat anyone’s price. And like I said, if you have an issue they will fix it fast.

Not opposed to buying used if I can do a local pickup and there is a SUBSTANTIAL savings. Otherwise, I would just rather buy new. Also, I would rather the peace of mind of dealing with a real shop than saving 100 bucks on E-bay. I don’t mind dropping a couple hundred on E-bay but I get a bit uncomfortable as the $$$ approach 1K.

When purchasing my two Wheelbuilder didn’t even come close to the best deals. Even with a 10% discount I had. I’m sure they have great service but it was included in the price. There are way better deals out there that aren’t hard to find.

That is understandable. One aspect you get with PowerTap is the amazing customer service of Saris Cycling. They are absolutely amazing with warranty issues. From what I have heard, in general they are still very eager to help people with powertap issues/problems even if they bought it 2nd hand.

Recently I bought a New in Box PT SL (non wireless) laced into an Open Pro rim complete with all of the electronics and wiring for $875 on Ebay. I also found a used PT Pro for $263. The latter was a little sketchy, as it was obviously an Ebay Store, and their description claimed everything looked good, and the owner didn’t indicate there were any problems. I’m hoping it works when it gets here. If not, then I am comfortable enough with the reputation of Saris Cycling and their ability to help me with it. I would not have spent more than $300 on it though, because I am anticipating that worst case I might have to spend another $300 on the wheel to get it up and running.

I would suggest simply checking back on ebay quite often. If you give yourself 6 weeks, you will be able to find a great deal out there. If you need it right away, then expect to pay much closer to list price.

Seems to be a good deal at http://sales.light-bikes.com/wheelsets/defaut.asp

Anybody know anything about these guys?
