Best cordless bike computer with HR?

advice? bike is a P2K if that makes any difference in terms of set up. also; I’m not a big cadence watcher so I’m indifferent as to that feature.

Please pardon my cynicism, but I have had zero luck with wireless computers.

That said, in all things cyclocomputer oriented, Cateye is my brand of choice.

I’ve actually had pretty good luck with my polar s720i. Not known for their bike computers, this thing is pretty full featured in that department and makes a great overall training aid with its computer uplink through ir interface (w/accompanying software) and of course the heart rate functions. It’s not cheap, but so far, it has been worth it for all of its features.

I’ve got a Sports Instruments SI-90HR bike computer. It’s wireless and has heart rate functions. I really like it – I can ride along and maintain my heart rate in my desired zone without any problems. The first unit I had was having trouble picking up the speed sensor on the fork. I called Sports Instruments and they said to send it back to them so they could check it. A couple weeks later, they sent me a brand new unit, saying they couldn’t find anything wrong with mine, but wanted to make things right for me. I was really impressed.

I’ll second the SI HR90. It works well, is reliable, and isn’t too expensive.

I have the Polar 720 as well, but haven’t hooked up the speed sensor. Is it just me, or can you not view the cadence/speed at the same time.

why go wireless. just get one with a cable and you never have to worry about interference from others, railroads, powerlines, etc.

cateye works great for me!

SI HR90. Mine works great. They even have a mount available to mount it on your stem between the aerobar pads. Perfect! I only wish the readout had pulse, mph and riding time all on the display together. Then it would be flawless. As it is, only see mph always, then click over to see HR or riding time.

i use the polar 710i. no major problems since the HR transmitter is coded. haven’t had any cross-talk with my buddies. don’t know about power lines though. don’t really ride near them. i think it’s a great value considering you already have an HRM, bike computer, altimeter (which is great for me since i can see my ride elevation/grades), and if you get the power attachment you’ll get the cheapest way to measure your watts (vs. powertap or SRM). plus i have two bikes so i just got another speed sensor.

also, i like wireless because it won’t get messed up in the rain (which we get a lot here in the tropics).

I find that wireless computers are more reliable than wired ones. Less chance of damaging the fragile cord, and also not so many problems with moisture entering the sensor.
