Best cop movie

Since we’re on the subject, right at the top of my head…

LA Confidential

Heat

IA

I really liked Seven also.

By far,

‘Copland’

(this is the one somewhat recent movie where S. Stallone actually acts like a real pro. And the movie also has a stellar cast. you will not be disappointed.)

How can the first choice not be Beverly Hills Cop?

LA Confidential is great. Copland is good. The French Connection. While you mention Stallone, Nighthawks is entertaining.

Basic Instinct? lol

LA Confidential. David K

Were there cops in Basic Instinct?

I’ve always enjoyed the Lethal Weapon series (especially for indoor rides since you don’t have to think too much and there is lots of action) and most of the Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry films.

Police Academy 5 was robbed on Oscar night!

yes, they were all looking upside down. Especially Newman.

Sort of cop, but more private investigator movie: Chinatown
.

Red Heat – Arnold. Belushi. Chicago. RedHeat may be the best movie of all time.

Cobra. Stallone. You’re the disease. He’s the cure.

Criminal: “I’ll blow this whole place up!!!”

Stallone: Go ahead … I don’t shop here.

How can you beat that?

LA Confidential? Geez … my wife likes that movie. You guys got something against explosions, blood, muscles, and bad acting?

If I had to pick a recent movie … Blue Streak.

Cop movies that try to be more than just ridiculous violence, car chases, and/or comedy just don’t seem to pull it off.

The fact that no one mentioned Die Hard series just pisses me right off. What’s with triathletes? No wonder everyone looks to get their testosterone from a syringe.

Training Day!

Serpico
.

…and nobody’s mentioned ‘Dirty Harry’ or ‘Magnum Force’…

“A man’s got to know his limitations” - Dirty Harry Callahan

Hi, this is my first post on this forum. Heat, the Lethal Weapon series, and Beverly Hills Cop are my top three cop movies. Heat is incredible.

Yes, I will put in another vote:

Training Day is a great movie on any level.

Yeah Heat is great - best shooting scenes in any movie hands-down. Michael Mann’s ability to inject total style onto screen was the reason I watched Miami Vice every Friday night growing up.

Someday my white blazer & pink t-shirt will come back into style…

Has to be Heat!

Pacino & Dinero in the same movie?! It doesn’t get much better than that, throw in Val and the rest of the awesome cast and you have a classic.

“An epic tale of crime and obsession and two men on opposite sides of the law”

Damn straight.

Dirty Harry, hands down. All others are pretenders and also rans. Most of those named are great movies with great actors…but lets face it…how in the hell can anyone compete with lines like…

“…you have to ask yourself “do I feel lucky”…well? do ya?..PUNK?..”

The Clint rules cop and cowboy cool.

Point Break

“You’re going DOWN, Bhodi!!!”

In the Heat of the Night
