I’m looking for a carbon seatpost for my C’dale system six build. Needs to be 31.6 Any advice out there?
Thanks,
I used a campy chorus on mine…It’s great…very stiff no flex. A few friends who also ride SystemSix use FSA…although I have seen one of those break…not pretty…although I think that was 50% rider/mechanic error, 50% product.
I’ve seen mixed reviews on Chorus and Record seatpost. Quite a few people say they have a problem slipping, and the design is flawwed. I don’t have any first hand info, hence why I’m here!
Thanks,
Thompson Masterpiece - no question. As light if not lighter than carbon posts, easy to adjust, bombproof. Easy decision.
X2 best decision I made for my Look 585.
I was hoping to find a carbon post to soften the ride a bit on longer hauls. I’m familiar with Thomson, and I might just wind up going that route.
Thanks,
Fools.
You CANT feel the material of a seat post. What you can feel is flex if the seat mount is fore or aft of the top of the shaft of the post - thus you get a rod up your rear, as opposed to a rod connected to a spring board (connected to the spring board that is your rails). For there to be flex in any post there needs to be a lever action to flex the material of the post (sorry, I am sure that some machine can tell me that at 78 degrees there is a flex due to the angle…but my ass cant feel it.).
So…to agree with Roof…get a Thompson. Now, to be clear - there ARE posts you can feel the flex in, but much like the post from earlier today - those posts have a certain life span that you just dont want to mess with. The flex is built into the post by putting your weight typically behind the post and thus using the carbon as a flex point to very modestly (and I mean VERY modestly) absorb high frequency road shock…that being the point. If you want your fanny to feel better, look at seats and shorts - not seat posts.
BTW - I have an 08 Record Carbon in my Litespeed…never ever slips ever. Now the 06 Ti Record post…that one liked to move a bit - not as much as the post in my old Vitus 979 however (shit or the one in my Cervelo P3 for that matter).
I liked this post.
I ride nothing but Thomson. As stated before, I dont think that you will find any benefit from a carbon over alloy. Go Elite or Masterpiece, depending on you willingness to spend for weight savings.
