Best carbon clinchers in the $1500-1800 range?

Looking for a wheelset for the year in this price range. Looking for maybe a 60 up front and 80-90 in the back or possibly larger up front.

What does everyone like here? I’m compairing Sram S80’s, Hed Jet 9’s, Rolf Prima Ares. Anything else I should look at guys/gals?

Cheers!

Planet X 60’s under 600…

In that price range the HED jet 9’s with a wheel cover in back will be your fastest option. Or a 6 front 9 rear would be a close second.

soul wheels are good

Planet X 60’s under 600…

With unknown aerodynamic properties. FWIW. Based on the cross-section diagram posted on the Planet X USA site, they’re V-shaped with a standard 19mm brake track – not likely to be the fastest wheels around.

for 1800 you could get Zipp 808 FC carbon clinchers.

same wheels on both sites and they are exactly as asad137 mentioned. Nothing more than a standard V with 19mm rim track.

used 808 CCs
.

Get the best front you can and a wheel cover for the back? Then save the spare cash for next season and get the deep back wheel.

Where are you finding that deal? $2500 is about the cheapest I’ve seen them.

watch the ST classifieds, there have been several pairs for around that price range…

You can get brand new 404+808 (non FC, with aluminum rim) for ~$1600. The 2011 zipps went on sale a couple weeks ago (everywhere). A few weeks ago I got a 404 FC CC for <$800

Like others are saying watch for some used FC, and throw a disc cover on the back. Or get an 808 FC up front and some powertap wheel then throw a disc cover on the back.
