Best bike lubricant for Southwest?

As a rookie cyclist, I am just learning about cleaning my bike. Does any specific product work better down here in the SW for a lubricant?

I keep hearing good things about Pro Link and see that it “repels moisture and reduces corrosion, smooths shifting and quiets the drivetrain, sheds dirt, mud and abrasives, disperses water and resists wash off.” I would think that the repelling moisture is not a concern for me here in central New Mexico, but rather something that doesn’t attract the dust that usually blows around here. Any thoughts or comments?

Thanks,

Eph

I liked the lubricant Lokelani was wearing…

I use Dumonde(lite).

It was ProLink. I can tell by the viscosity and the visual sheen.

I use prolink. I ride mostly in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque. Will I be seeing you at the Chili Harvest Tri this year?

Thanks for the info; I was hoping someone from NM would chime in.

As far as the Socorro tri - that is my goal or “peak” tri this year (first year of tri’ing) so yep. Hey, it looks like I will even be in your age group (I’m the Striders and Riders (http://www.socorro.com/ssr) web master so I looked up the results).

I really enjoyed that race last year the time trial start made it unique (for me at least).

Did you consider that a good or a bad thing? :stuck_out_tongue: Don’t answer; growing up in the “big” city of Las Cruces I never thought I would wind up in Socorro, based on what little I knew and it’s reputation. But I love it here, especially now that I am “mature” at 25.

The only thing it needs is a big organic grocery store and a tri shop (just wishing, ABQ doesn’t even have a dedicated tri shop). But if TomD gets his website up then I won’t have to worry about that…

My wife went to college in Portalles, which is one of the reasons we moved from Santa Clara (California) to this barren hell hole.

ahh, I missed my barren hell hole when I lived in Iowa for a few years. Too much green (plant life) hurts my eyes. I need browns, pinks, and yellows.
