Looking for input on what would be some of the options on bike box for 2008 Transition. Never traveled with bike, but want to protect and be able to train when traveling for business as well as hitting some out of town races. Of course I will be putting this into the infamous baggage system of the airlines.
I have been using a Trico Iron Case for shipping an '08 Transition this year with no problems at all. In fact because of how long the seatpost is - it’s really easy to pack. all you need to do is take the bars off the stem, take off the seatpost and the load it up. obviously you’ll be taking both wheels off.
I have also used a Thule box which is nice because it’s pretty small, but some bigger road bikes don’t fit in it very well.
I use the Akona soft case for my 2007 transition. You can search the 37,000 posts about hard vs soft but I have never had a problem and never been charged.
