I have seen a ton of options online ranging from $200-$600, and hard/soft cases. Anyone have any good recommendations as I am trying to make a budget conscience decision while also not sacrificing snapping my bike in two in transport. Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks, Nic
I have the Performance Team Case

I use the Scicon Evolution. Shipped probably 15 times with no problems. A little over your price range but highly recommended on most sites. Depends on what kind of transport you need…plane, FedX, or simply by car?
plane. i would be willing to spend up to 450-500 (including shipping it to my house). The scicon is a bit over range for a tri bike but will keep on radar. thanks. … geez, triathlon is a pricey sport

If you are doing plane, then I would recommend staying at high end of price range as you’ll find all the research here and elsewhere will confirm your bike will be subject to substantial abuse. Most people will recommend a hard case…those with bladders will sometime burst/break and soft side doesn’t offer plane abuse protection (again, no personal experience but I did substantial research before going over budget on the Scicon). Remember, your case will be opened and inspected by TSA and they will not take the time to repack it properly. And also remember, if you get a high quality case that will with stand up to abuse, you can always resell it. There is another thread here as well where many recommend the Hen House. And if you do the “search” link, this subject has been discussed many times in the past. Good luck…and yes, this is not a cheap sport.
I have the Biknd, the case that has the inflatable bladders. I have traveled overseas (road bike) and also with my tri bike with a set of 404s and a 900 disc (multiple times) without issues. I did a review on here a while back that you could take a look at it.
It takes some skillfull packing, but I have one from trisports.com that can hold 2 bikes. Usually I just take one bike, and I have room for shoes, tools, helmet, pump, all the crap that takes up space in “normal person” travel luggage. Since it isn’t much larger than other cases, I usually only get charged for one bike even if I’m taking two.

I gave wayyyy too long of an answer on this topic just a few days ago after debating the merits of a few

Aircaddy. As dorky as it may seem, I travelled to France with one of these and it worked great.
Recyclable and reuseable, folds flat for storage. Internal metal plate fork mount with wheels.
Thanks. This is a great thread and shows my laziness for not searching before hand. Appreciate thoughts.
So I had the biospeed aurus for several years and had absolutely no issues. When I upgraded to a P5 I decided to upgrade my case as well and went with BikeBoxAlan. I did a lot of research before the purchase and if they’re not the best they’re definitely in the top 3. Good luck with your decision and go with a hard case.

So happy you posted this. Seems like a great solution/approach if shipping a bike vs. flying. I think the Aircaddy is interesting, but I’d opt for the “eBike” box. I may be giving this a shot in a few months.
Evoc for sure. Easy to pack and no damage over about 10 flights. I’ve only paid about $200 in fees over those flights too. Could be due to me charming the gate ladies, but the bike bag surely helps.
