What is the highest place an American Age grouper finished at a Ironman North America Event? I have a feeling this could be broken at IM Wisconsin.
Chris Hauth M30-34 7th overall at IM CDL. I’m embarassed to say I don’t have a sense for the highest placed woman.

i think carol sharpless took 4th at lake placid last year. she was an age grouper. she might be pro now. not sure.

Depends on if you want to include Joe Boness in this conversation and throw in the age calculation? Didn’t he finish IMFL with some ridiculous place a few years ago?

Matt Seeley won 1/2 Vineman a few years ago as an amateur, beating several well known pro’s. Not an IM, but it was a Kona qualifier wasn’t it? I believe he turned Pro the following year.

Didn’t Bonness win the Great Floridian last year? I know that’s not an IM NA event, but still pretty impressive.
How about Tom Soderdahl (M30-34) finishing 11th at Kona in 2002!! If you consider that was on the mitic Ironman Hawai this surely must be one of the top finishes by an AGer!
