Bento box?

Who is using a Bento box or mini Bento? Do they significantly effect air flow, steering? Do you rate them as good or bad and why? I got a mini bento cheap, wondering if it’s useful for Oly or 1/2 IM, or just for training.

I use my full-size bento when I’m on the trainer. It holds two remote controls and my ipod. I don’t race with it though because I don’t need it. I don’t eat during 1/2 and full IMs and keep my spare tubes and stuff in a bag behind the seat.

I use one. For a 1/2 IM, it will hold 2 powerbars, 6 gels, and my salt tablets. It doesn’t seem to affect steering at all, since it’s just a velcro strap around the steerer tube(if that’s the right part) and two around the top tube. I don’t know if it affects air flow, but I would think any effect is not significant. Not for me, anyway.

I use it for long rides and for races.

I use mine whenever I need to carry something that won’t fit in my little saddle bag or that I want to be able to get to without stopping (gels or bars that I don’t put in pockets). I have the full size version. I can’t imagine it significantly affects airflow, etc. since it sits behind the stem.

I use the full size one all the time. It’s great for holding remotes on the trainer and I use it while on long training rides and commuting to work. I can’t imagine that it would have a lot of drag.

After my last Half IM no bento, found me a small bento and using it doesn’t seem to present any airflow problems as far as I can tell. And the things I can put in it far outweigh and airflow disruption anyway. Usually put endurolytes and GU or equivalent in it along with a couple of other items. The box is much easier to get at than trying to reach around and pull crap out of the back pockets of my tri shirt.

In a post last September Bunnyman spoke of it as if it was a sail, if I remember???
