Beer!

So last night I went to my fridge and the only beer left in there was some Michelob Ultra someone brought to poker night. I open it knowing it isn’t going to be that good and after drinking it I can’t even imagine what it is that makes people buy that swill, much less drink it. If I wanted to relive my college beer drinking days I’d just go out and buy a case of Natty Light and drink as much of it as I could.

Let’s all help to enlighten those “watered down” beer drinkers.

What’s your favorite one, type?

Me, I don’t go for stouts, porters or the “heavier” beers. I’m a big fan of the Hefeweisse. Those wheat beers are for the most part outstanding. Other than that I’m a big fan of Newcastle, Fat Tire (but I can’t get it at home, which is lame), there are many other microbrews that I’m a fan of also. If I have to drink a mass market beer its going to be a Bud Light.

So share your stories, give me some suggestions. I’m always ready for a new drink.

Good stuff up here in Canada!

I’m mostly a Molson product fan. There is an excellent Nova Scotian beer (Keith’s) that is great also. Microbrew stuff is good every once in a while for a change.

Anything cold suits me just fine…or free beer!

But my current preference is KLB Raspberry Wheat. Local microbrew that you can buy at The Beer Store. Also lean towards Hoegarden or Guinness when I’m out at a pub - love 'em both on tap.

I’m on a Belgian-only beer kick these days.

Wit beers, trappist ales, etc. Chimay and Corsendork are the easiest to find. There’s also a local Belgian bistro that has an extensive tap/bottle offering.

These brews just don’t compare to any of the wee-wee you get here in the U.S. But if i have to go domestic, I’m going Sierra Nevada or New Belgium (Fat Tire or Abbey).

This time of year… Winterhook. It’s one of the few seasonals I look forward to.

Guiness

Harp

Haystack Black

Goats Breath (America’s only microbrewed malt liquor)

Arrogant Bastard

John Smith’s Brick Red
.

Since darker beer has more vitamins it’s my duty to to drink very dark beer to support my training.

My current preference is Guiness, but a local microbrew has a nice darker beer can’t remember what the name is.

I can drink just about all of them ($1.25 Old Style at my favorite bar. How can you beat that?) but my favorites are as follows:

Guinness

Red Hook Products (Black Hook, Winter Hook, etc)

Fat Tire

Sam Adams Products (everything except their fruity one)

Shiner Bock

Negro Modelo

The best I’ve had lately is “DogFish Head”. I think it’s a Deleware microbeer.

Lucky Logger… great bottle cap puzzles!

Dogfish Head 60-Minute IPA (or a 22 oz. :90 IPA)

Magic Hat Blind Faith

Victory HopDevil

Rogue Dead Guy Ale

Being an avid homebrewer for years, this is a thread that I can really get behind

Youngs Special London Ale (An english bitter with a belgian yeast)

Stone Arrogant Bastard (Very Aggressive)

Sam Adams Boston Lager

Anything I make (usually make belgians, hoppy IPA’s, and an oatmeal stout)

Cheers,

Dan
.

Kilkenny, creamy head and so very, very smooth

Sam Adams Cream Stout

Alaska Amber.

Finally! Someone who likes Rogue Ale! I am guessing you are in the Northwest as it is hard to get it anywhere else.

Other favorites include:

Full Sail

Sam Adams

Guiness

Harp

and the occasional Fuller’s ESB

“Alaska Amber”

I was going to ask where you found it, but then checked your profile. I love that beer but can only drink it when I am at the airport in Portland, OR.

You can find Rogue in the Bay Area as well if my memory serves me correctly.

It would be easier for me to list beers I don’t like than ones I do. I’m not a big wheat beer fan, or overly fruity beers.

Just about anything else is great, depending on the circumstances.

I have a slightly better connection because I have family in Newport, OR, the home of Rogue.

If you are ever moved to experiment on a fruity beer, try the Roguenberry. Not overly sweet and a good aftertaste.

About the only beer I have a problem with is lite beers. I would rather not drink if that is the only choice.

Chimay Grand Reserve

The Reverand (Avery Brewing Co.)
.

MMMMMM, Belgian beer.

Chimay
Westmalle
Orval
Achel

Shoot, even a Duvel is fine once in awhile.

I don’t like the lite either. However we did always get a bucket of Bud Lights after beach volleyball last summer and those went down pretty well.

I’ll try the Roguenberry if I get a chance.
