Becoming Zeppelin on Netflix

I was so disappointed when I saw this listed on Netflix. I love blimps and thought this was a documentary. LZ is cool and all, but I was hoping for more gas and less metal.

TIL that early in his career James Brown worked as a Little Richard impersonator. Not a modern style tribute impersonator, but actually pretending to be Little Richard, standing in for him when LR was in some way indisposed, with the audience being none the wiser. Weird.

Live Aid in Philadelphia, but that wasn’t their original lineup and not a great show for them. Judas Priest made up for it though.

I saw them in Tampa in 1977. A brief thunderstorm caused cancellation resulting in a riot.

I hadn’t heard about the Led Zep riot in Tampa. A few years later, in Aug 1980, I was in the crowd at the Alice Cooper riot in Toronto. Here are the details of that incident: That time an Alice Cooper riot rocked the CNE

It seems we had approx. half the number of injuries but many more arrests reported. My friends and I didn’t participate in the shenanigans- we found a safe spot to watch the rioters and when Mounted Police arrived thought it was a good time to vacate the premises. A few days later, we returned to the Exhibition and purchased “I survived the Alice Cooper Riot” t-shirts.

It sucked at the time, but a great story and I have seen Alice Cooper perform many times since so all good.
