Well, it’s been two of the most eventful weeks of my life and Zack and I have graduated/quit jobs, moved, driven across the country, and completed our first New England Stage race.
Everything but the racing went pretty much as expected, despite the life changing qualities, however, I think we underestimated the stress of traveling and transition on our riding legs.
All in all Fitchburg could have gone better, but also much worse. I finished 25th overall out of 133 and Zack was 68th but had a major blowup episode in the road race and lost 6 minutes. I used a powertap for the whole race so have data to use as an indicator and from traveling and lack of racing prior to fitchburg we weren’t on top form. Probably a good thing going into the racing for the rest of the summer when we’ll be able to put up a late season peak when other guys are falling off.
We are still motivated despite the rain here in Ithaca and will be racing here in New England for another 5 weeks or so before moving down south to finish off the season.
Keep the friendly words coming, we can always use them!

all the best,
Matt and Zack
LOTS of sleep, some relaxations CDs and lots of fruits and veggies can do quite a bit to help with the stress, give it a try if you can.
Keep us updated. BTW if you need a place to stay in the Penn Yan area for a month or so I probably can get you something REALLY cheap or maybe even free.
yep, believe it or not Central New York is hot, humid, and rainy, haha!
Thanks for the housing offer, acts of kindness like that will definitely go a long way in the time to come!
