BBS users: what do you look at?

For those that use best bike split while racing, what metrics do you look at during the ride? I generally look at overall NP and 30 average power, but I’ve lately found that I can ‘follow the plan’ a little better when looking at speed rather than 30 average power.

What works best for you?

If you have a newer Garmin you can upload the ride as a course and install the BBS ConnectIQ app then look at the BBS Target Power field in conjunction with 3s/30s/lap power.

I wish the app could also trigger an automatic lap so I could just watch lap power and BBS.

I stick the cheat sheet to the top tube and use 3s average, probably should use 30s as the 3 is too spiky. I keep an eye on the average power. I don’t generally use NP because I am big and heavy and have quite a lot of power I can’t control the bursts up hills and accelerating so my NP is normally too high.

That’s cool, I didn’t know there was an app. I’ve downloaded their power courses to my watch but I didn’t really like that. I agree, triggering an auto lap would be awesome.

But my biggest problem is the sheer number of laps included. I mapped it out for IM Whistler and it came up with 163 different segments, some as short as 10 seconds! I know that’s key for modeling purposes, but there is no way I’m going to be able to hit XXX watts for 10 seconds and then change to XXY for the next 30 seconds and then…

Edit: Ahh, bummer, not available for my 920XT for some reason
