So what happened to Basso? I was watching the live coverage when he missed his start and heard later that he pulled out due to a knee injury. The announcer said he ‘hit it on his bars’. Was this in yesterdays stage or during warm up sometime today?
During the warmup, not sure if it was a bad fit or he he just somehow smashed his knee on the aerobars. Out of the tour.
I saw him when he got back from the warm up ride and he looked OK, sweaty, but OK. I managed to take a couple of pictures and then have him signed a poster for me. I was surprised not to see him when his time was up.

I think it may have been something else besides banging his knee during the warmup. Because seriously, banging your knee so bad during a TT warmup? Maybe he is ill and doesnt want to let on?
