I’ll admit that second pic of Ras freaked me out a bit. I’ve never seen skin that pale.
But what it really made me think is that, next to guys like that, I have no determination. Guys like me wonder what we’re capable of and how far could push ourselves if we only put in the effort. Guys like that know.

Honestly, I see a concentration camp survivor as well. I mean, Lance (even in summer TdF form), Robbie, Vino, etc. don’t look like that. I mean pro cyclists aren’t outward physical specimens (heart/lungs/mitochondria and legs yes), but they don’t all look like Rasmussen!

They all don’t win polka dotted jerseys. I’m with bigzach/paulo. He is in everyway healthy and has taken the necessary steps to be great. I bet he thinks of his body as a freaking machine/temple and should.
You are correct - the pros I mentioned are BETTER cyclists overall 
I’d wager that Lance or even Vino could win the KOM jersey if that was there focus - but that would not be prudent as a GC contender.

Lance could, not sure about Vino(not coming down on Vino but Rasmussen is a good climber). time trialing takes a whole different mentality than climbing and a skill the chicken just doesn’t have.
