Morning all,
I’ve won a Specialized Sitero saddle on eBay.
I’m wondering about the philosophy of how one should sit on the thing in aero position.
Where do ‘the boys’ go? Do they dangle happily off the front, with the split saddle rails either side of the Main Exit?
Does one need to set the saddle perfectly level?
Any absolute dos and don’ts you can pass on?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the sligtly daft questions.
Morning all,
I’ve won a Specialized Sitero saddle on eBay. Good choice, I like mine. Hopefully you have a bike that allows a decent seat tube angle because the saddle rails don’t go far enough back. Ok on my P3.
I’m wondering about the philosophy of how one should sit on the thing in aero position. Where it hurts the least after an hour on the turbo.
Where do ‘the boys’ go? They just sort of do their own thing. The recess between the split nose is mainly for relieving your spunk nerve. That’s a good nerve to look after. Do they dangle happily off the front, with the split saddle rails either side of the Main Exit? Depends how big your ball sack is. Mine goes baggy in hot weather. I guess they just sort of “bunch”.
Does one need to set the saddle perfectly level? More or less, mine is around 2 deg downwards but I’m considering levelling it out. Much depends on your back angle, mine is pretty flat.
Any absolute dos and don’ts you can pass on? Do play around with fore-aft position until you find the width you want in the position you like. Don’t try and tuck your balls through the gap in the middle, unless they are tiny.
Thanks in advance, and sorry for the sligtly daft questions.Sorry for the daft answers ;-).
Answers above. If you can forgive the poor comedy there is some useful info in my response.
Thanks! It looks like I might benin trouble as I am using a PD FF seatpost to get as far forward as possible. Ah well, we’ll see.
You may be alright. Keep in mind if you’re coming from a traditional saddle that there just isn’t as much out front on these. As far as level goes, yeah, mine was pretty level. Maybe down 1 degree. On the nose it almost feels like it ramps up a tiny bit at the tip to hook you in you so you don’t move forward.
Thanks. I’ll set it up on the trainer, I think, and see how it goes before trying it on the road.
No matter what you set it at initially be sure to make adjustments to meet your comfort level. Its the best investment I ever made.
