This happened the other night in (I think) Chicago. Foul ball goes into the stands, mid-thirties guy pushes the four year old in front of him and grabs the ball. The rest of the game, the kid’s mother keeps hitting the guy with a rolled up scorecard while the crowd periodically chants, “give the kid the ball”. This morning , the guy said he would apologize and give up the ball.

Assuming you’re talking about the guy at the Texas Rangers/St. Louis Cardinals game, who dove over the 4 year old boy to get the fould ball… His girlfriend must have left him 'cause she found out he was married. ESPN reports the guy is a married 28 year old landscaper and former youth pastor.

married, nice - almost as good as what happened in Philly last week. 18 year old high school girl met a guy in London, plans to run away from home and see him. Can’t find her passport. The guy tells her to phone in a bomb threat so she can have more time to look. Flight gets cancelled (obviously), FAA tracks her down and now she’s facing serious adult charges. Turns out the guy is in his thirties, married, kids. They trick him into flying to Philly to help her and he gets arrested.

Our local news has spent a hell of a lot of time on this story. Grown man pushes aside a 4-year old boy to get a foul ball.

this little kid got two bats, two balls, one of which was autographed by nolan ryan. his mom was on today or something similar(whichever one has charlie gibson). people are buying this kid tickets for future games. now the dude that did the shoving is giving back the ball, plus buying even more tickets.
i saw the replay, and it didn’t seem that bad. from what it looked like, the guy saw the ball and dove. it didn’t even look like the kid knew the ball was there. it certainly didn’t seem bad enough to give the kid a stake in team ownership, which would be the next step…

**My wife was on a flight to Mexico for spring break in the mid-80s. One guy got hammered and told the flight attendant that there was a bomb in his bag. The flight was immediately diverted into the nearest airport, where a convoy of emergency vehicles race down the runway with it. He is quickly escorted off the plane, into federal custody and is almost eligible for early release. **

Baseball sucks.
From what I saw on the video replays, the guy falls over a row of seats going for a ball and the kid gets bumped in the back with the guys leg. The kid did not get pushed or jumped over, the kid wasn’t even looking for the ball, he was just standing there looking on to the field. Watch the video.
I thnk this got way too much coverage. The whole thing is stupid. If mom was so concerned why didn’t she try to protect her kid from an incoming foul ball.
