Barefoot Running Question/Advice

Disclaimer: I’ve run barefoot for short distances and find it helpful. So last night while running my knee was hurting so I decided to run barefoot for a while. Knee pain went away and I actually ran 7 miles on a concrete path.

Needless to say my feet have some blisters on them this morning. No problem, they will heal in a day or so.

My question is ‘can anyone recommend a minimal shoe so I’ll feel like I’m running barefoot?’ I was thinking a pair of wrestling shoes or martial arts shoes.

Thanks for the reply’s. Have a great weekend and safe training to everyone.

NIKE FREEs.

Puma H-street for road and Nike Zoom Waffle racer for off-road are good choices. Take it slow, don’t do big milage or you’re asking for injury.

Try the Brooks T4. I have been running in a pair of T3s for a couple of months now. I’m starting to wear through the blown rubber in the forefoot and I can really feel every pebble, but these feel as close to barefoot as you can get. As you wear then in they will become more flexible and the cushioning will be compressed to the point that all they are is providing protection for the bottom of your feet. Which sounds like what you are looking for now.

However, I worked my mileage up very slowly over four months. Be careful.

Nike Frees do NOT feel like barefoot. They feel like walking on tennis balls. Or some other cushy but terribly unstable surface.
