Barack Obama on Iraq

There has been some speculation today on future Presidential candidates and some (ie. my mate Kangaroo) who said he was unfamiliar with any of his stands.

Here is a link to a speech he made from the Senate floor in 2006. He relates this speech to another he made in 2002 when he said

“Hussein was a ruthless man but that he posed no imminent threat to teh U.S”.

He also said, “a war in Iraq would take our focus away from our efforts to defeat al-Qaeda”

I know he is young and inexperienced, but if we did have a President with that foresight, I imagine this country would be in a better position than it is right now.

If we just had a president that could articulate a thought in a coherent sentence we’d be in a better position than we are right now.

Obama is a fucktard tool. He is a mouth piece.

“Earlier today I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces,” Clinton said

“The best way to end that threat once and for all is with a new Iraqi government – a government ready to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people,” Clinton said.

“Saddam Hussein and the other enemies of peace may have thought that the serious debate currently before the House of Representatives would distract Americans or weaken our resolve to face him down,” Clinton said.

“But once more, the United States has proven that although we are never eager to use force, when we must act in America’s vital interests, we will do so.” (Bill Clinton)

“If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction program.”
President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

“He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983.”
Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

“Hussein has … chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies.”
Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999.

“There is no doubt that . Saddam Hussein has reinvigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a licit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies.”
Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, Dec, 5, 2001.

“Iraq’s search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.”
Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002.

“We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seing and developing weapons of mass destruction.”
Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002.

“The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons…”
Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002.

I wasn’t talking about Obama, or any other IL retard.

I wasn’t talking about Obama, or any other IL retard.
And yet, you nor most other WI folks are able to articulate any other thought beyond snowmobiles and beer…that is why barb wire fence was invented in IL.

If we just had a president that could articulate a thought in a coherent sentence we’d be in a better position than we are right now.

For some reason, late at night, I watched the Jeff Foxworthy roast, and a George Bush impersonator did a perfect charactiture of our President.

Here it is, it’s wonderful!

Even watching it without sound is hilarious.

Clinton’s been out of the office for a while now. Got anything more recent, actually relevant to the thread?

that guy was dead on. funny stuff

Are you still after Clinton?

he and a few others are still in denial - - interesting, Cindy Sheehan and John Murtha brought down the house of cards - and these activist voters kicked the bums out.

**I know he is young and inexperienced, but if we did have a President with that foresight, I imagine this country would be in a better position than it is right now. **

Too liberal for my tastes.

Too liberal for my tastes.

Actually, I agree. I think he is going to be a real threat for President and I think he will win if he runs, but I’d be concerned about this too. I don’t have a real grasp of his social ideas so if he does start making noise, I’ll have to watch for that.

I like his sound bites on Iraq though and that will resonate with voters. Of course, it’s easy to talk right now about what you would do but we’ll have to see how he reacts when he starts getting pressed on specifics.

Did you learn that term in your Political Studies course, or did you come up with it all on your own?

I don’t have a real grasp of his social ideas

They are about as liberal as one could get.

He’s shown himself to be very articulate and that is refreshing given the current prez’s abilities in that area, however his political views are not middle of the road.

Not to argue the point, but ANYONE with a brain and this far after the fact, would be pretty stupid to say anything different…

If you’re referring to his comments on Iraq, the Senate speech related to his comments from 2002, prior to the invasion.

Then by all means, lets elect him !

Well what’s that phrase … “in hindsight” ?

Yes I do agree that Iraq would, should not have been a first choice but rather Iran.

Obama??? he’s not saying anything that we already don’t know. He’s slick and his solutions sound ideal but conveniently doesn’t really address how to handle the consequences of withdrawal. Withdrawal by phases, timetable, get Iraqis to step up …sounds to me like he’s just a politician saying the things that he figures most like to hear.

Let’s face it … there’s no ‘good’ withdrawal without REALLY taking care of the situation over there… and that includes Iran… a President with real leadership who can influence others to accept what needs to be done instead of being swept by the tide of the sheep … a President that can pull that off (is there such a man?)…YUP (thumbs-up)… as for Obama? …talk is cheap! … and what is it with his name??? Obama - Osama ???

You’re a Cindy Sheehan fan? … Lorenzo bin Zarkawi and Cindy Sheehan. http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/images/smilies/lmao.gif She ought to convert to Islam, at least then she could cover up and we needn’t look at her ugly mug.
