Back pain

Background

36 yr old swim coach bought a Mountain Bike when my knee would not let me run. Knee is better, back in the pool training for the first time in 15 years. Finally can’r resist the call of Triathlon so I bought a friends road bike and am 3 months into some consistent training.

After 3-4 times a week on the windtrainer with a long session of 70 minutes at high cadence most of the time on the aero bats I was finally able to get off the windtrainer and outside for a 80 minute ride today.

Finally the question. Will my back adjust with time or am I to expect to live with a sore back when I get off the bike. If it will adjust any guess at the time lines.

And along those lines can any one suggest a do it yourself Yoga tape. I don’t have the time to get to a regular class (I have been to about 4) but could find time while my wife and kids are asleep.

Thanks for any help.

If you’ve been riding 3-4 times per week for 3 months and your back is still sore after riding, there’s something wrong with your position on the bike. I’d go get fitted on the bike by someone that knows tri positoning.

As far as yoga tapes go, I recently got Rodney Yee’s Power Yoga on DVD, and it seems like a pretty good one. Mind you, I know nothing about yoga- I’ve never been to a class, but this DVD is a good workout and great for stretching.
