Back in the saddle again!

YAHOOOOOOO!

I am finally am back on my bike after 13 months recovering from a broken ankle.

I rode yesterday and it felt great! I did 21.5 miles and averaged 17.5 Mph. Certainly not going to challenge most on this board but it was start and it was good to get going again! I made a conscious effort to not go hard and spin so as to not aggravate the ankle. I wore a lace up brace to stabilize the ankle and was pain free for the entire ride. This AM still no pain, which is great! But my right knee is a bit sore and stiff so I wonder if the brake was forcing my knee into unnatural movement.

Either way it feels good to get going again! To bad the summer is near the end.

Good on ya, mate!

Damn - 13 months. I was all pissy and moaning about not riding for like 13 days.

Sure makes ya appreciate being able to do somthing as basic and fun as riding a bike, when you were not able to for a while, eh?

Ride on-

Well I did ride a few times in the last 13 months- mostly as a test to see where I was physically and one ride with the family. the wife who is a non triathlete or rider had to pull the kiddy cart becasue my ankle was so messed up.

Anyhow yesterday more than doubled my total milage over the last 13 months so I’ll call it a real ride. I hope to mount up again tommorow for another 20 ish ride. I plan on trying to ride about every other day for the next few weeks with nothing to hard or to long to ease the ankle into riding again. But no running for at least two months. I do not want to have a third surgery and the tri season is pretty much over so there is no need to push it!
