Baby Strollers? Ebay only 12 hours to decide

There is a Baby stroller made by Raleigh on Ebay. Has anyone used it? Reviews? Should I give it a try or should I just spend the extra money for the dreamer or running room versions.

Thx.

Hey Adam:

I can only offer my experience, but I did a lot of research before buying. There was actually a pretty long thread on this back around September or October of last year.

I ended up buying the KoolStride, “Senior” I think is the model. 16" wheels in back, 12" in front, and it rocks. We’ve travelled now several times with it, and without it. I’ve thus used others and like the KoolStride the best. Light, easy to handle, just rocks all around.

I haven’t seen the Raleigh, but my advice is to go for the biggest wheels possible, as that seems to make all the difference in the world.

Good luck…T

This looks a lot like the baby jogger I bought nearly 20 years ago. They were a new idea then, believe it or not. I loved it. I wore out the tires. One of the smartest investments I ever made.

The Raleigh stroller is one of many “generic” strollers, all of the same design, sold under various brands. They are all so identical, they must be made in the same factory.

I recently replaced my worn-out Baby Jogger (7 years old and the salt air finally did it in), and did a exhaustive review of strollers. In my opinion, there are only two “real” running strollers: Koolstop and Baby Jogger. Both are great, and I have the Baby Jogger with 16" wheels. The Koolstop models are also excellent. The generic types work, of course, just not nearly as well.

If you are really going to go running with this thing, get a Koolstop or a Baby Jogger. They show up on Ebay, too.

I deliberated for a couple of months on which stroller to buy. I just couldn’t bring myself to spend a couple of hundred bucks for the stroller. My wife bought a used off brand for about 40 dollars. You know, its only getting 10 to 15 miles a week, for that its great. And it has to last only 2 more years then I can sell it.

The BabyJogger brand is great! I have the 20" wheel model. Absolutely great and a smooth ride for my daughter. And this is a combination of sidewalks and the crushed lime stone trail, I (we) train on. Baby Jogger also offers 24" wheels for the rear / 20" in front. I found that the 16" wheel models are too small which result in a lot of bounce, and fouls up the stride.

Hi Adam,

Another option is a company called Runabout. I cant remember the site right now, but if you do a search it should come up relatively easily. We have a triple, and they make them all the way up to a quint (5). They are solid, and I raced last year in a bunch of races with them http://www.dickmeighan5krun.com/photos/gallery.php?ind=6

I would recommend the Baby jogger (we have the double), and Kool stride (we have he single), and the Runabout (as I said, we have the triple). Get the largest wheels (20"). We bought all ours used, and they all seem to stand up well when given a beating (and we definately gave them a work over). I really like to have a rain cover as well for the cooler days when you want to break the wind from blowing on the kids. Otherwise they get quite vocal in with their complaints. Hope this helps.
