Just got my Azoto Trigel saddle, I can hardly wait to get this thing on and ride. I wil go at least 5mph faster while enjoying the comy feel of an overstuffed leather chair!
I bet my distinctly different FSA-Vision Tri Gel saddle will make me go even faster ![]()
.
yes, I hear the silver color is good for at least 1 mph more. I wasn’t sure if I could handle that kind of speed, so I went with the original (also, I found this on ebay, it’s already broken in).
There is actually a noticeable difference between a new and used Azoto. The new ones out of the box are much stiffer than you would expect.
If you don’t mind me asking, do you know how used the saddle was and how much did you buy it for? Sorry for the upfront question, but I am considering selling mine and am curious as to how much I might expect to get from it.
really? I guess I’ll find out. how much? too much, but less than retail. I was ok until a day after the auction, when Nashbar dropped the price to $79.99
who knows, maybe you’ll get some idiot like me to bid it up
what don’t you like about it? I got it because I find myself to be a nose rider and this seemed to be a good solution.
You can buy the CH Aero saddle cover and go just as fast. May not look as cool though.
ok, you got me on this one. I know you always promote the wheel cover, but there’s a saddle cover? where were you last week!!! Is this like a QR/DeSoto? I have one, I just thought the Azoto would be better on the nose (it’s wider and gives more).
“you got me on this one”
Supposed to be a joke. CH Aero doesn’t make aero saddle covers.
arrrrrrrggggghhhhh! They got me! My sons will avenge me, you’ll never go anywhere without looking over your shoulder.
I didn’t mean to suggest that it was bad that it was softer. I was disappointed when I took it out of the box since it was nearly as stiff as my old saddle. It definitely gets better when it is ridden for a bit. After a few months, it was perfect.
There’s nothing that I don’t like about it really, I just have serious saddle issues. If you ride on the tip, this saddle is for you. I don’t like riding on the tip, and I am more comfortable with more saddle under me. The Azoto was a big improvement over my stock saddle. However, when I got a zero set-back post to move the saddle under me more I started chaffing since the nose is so wide (a good thing for riding on the tip, but not for riding back farther).
Another problem for me was that I only have a tri-bike, and in group rides, the Azoto is not nearly as comfortable sitting up on the pursuit bars due to the slope at the back (which also was a bit of a problem in the aero position when I moved the saddle forward more).
I think it is a very quality saddle, and will work for a lot of people who exclusively use it in the aero position and ride on the nose. It just didn’t work 100% for me. Enjoy.
did you try the Arione? I have that on my road bike and I love it. Tried it with a saddle cover but I thought the nose was too pointy for tri.
Just in case anyone is interested, Nashbar has the Azoto on sale for $74.98 right now. Unfortunately no coupons for nashbar, but performance has a 20% off $50 coupon that you can find at www.dealcoupon.com, that doesn’t expire for awhile. I just ordered myself an Azoto to replace my Avocet O2 (wide version), and a Cateye Astrale computer for $19, so I’ll see how the Azoto works for me. I’ve got the narrow version of the Avocet O2 on the rest of my bikes and have loved it for the last few years, but it definitely leaves some room for improvement in the arrow position.
yeah, thanks a lot for reminding me!
That’s what I switched to. I can get it a little more forward and under me than the Azoto, and it is flat at the back. It still gets uncomfortable in the aero position after several hours, but I don’t get numb at all. It’s definitely a big improvement for me, but I wouldn’t quite call it the perfect saddle (maybe that doesn’t exist). And riding on it sitting up on the pursuit bars is a dream, making the group rides much more enjoyable.
