The idea: I had started doing triathlons and was looking for some assistance in training and such. I found all kinds of great information on the web but locally the information pool seemed small. While there are hundreds of triathletes in Tucson, there was no club for the general population. Tucson has a female tri club and a the U of A has the TriCats, but I didn’t quite fit the criteria for either club.
I started thinking about starting a club. I posted on TNO about how to do so. That post got me some good information and I chatted with a fellow local triahlete about it but we didn’t really do much. Several months later I ran into Seton from TriSports.com at a local race and he said he was sending me an email about starting a club. He said that he some other people interested in starting a club and we arranged to get together.
We have spent several months trying to figure out all the details of starting a club and we are now ready to make our formal annoucement. Tucson Desert Heat Triathlon Club will be sponsoring a group ride in conjuction with TriSports.com’s Open House event Oct. 2nd. Our first offical club meeting will be at the beginning of Nov., time, date and location to be posted soon.
The ride will start at 8:00am leaving from the TriSports.com parking lot - 2555 N. Coyote Dr. Suite 111 with breakfast treats after the ride.
