AWA @ IM Wisconsin and Louisville

Anything “special” for AWA in Wisconsin or Louisville?

At Louisville you got a lower bib number (I was 227 while the rest of my a g was 1400s) and therefore a different spot in transition, which is closer to the bike out. We also got white swim caps with the awa logo on it while everyone else got green or pink.

Same at Canada and Mont-Tremblant. My bib # was in the 200’s or 300’s for both races while the rest of my AG was well into the 1000’s.

Nothing at IMWI. Did notice that AWA standing had almost no bearing on podium. ie not as many “Golds” were on the podium as I would have thought and not all on the podium were listed as AWA.

AWA athletes were supposed to get a different line for check in, a different swim cap, temporary tattoos with the AWA logo, and the AWA logo on thier bib. I don’t know about the line since there wasn’t one when I checked in, but neither my wife nor I received the cap or tattoo. Not that I would wear the tattoo. I saw a handful of caps at the swim start.

Low numbers were not an AWA indicator. My wife had one, but I did not. A friend who is not AWA had one as well.

There was a TINY awa logo on the Louisville bibs. I mean tiny. No way you would notice it unless the bib was 1 ft away from your face

I saw a bunch of white caps on a few athletes, but upon close inspection they just seemed to be old caps from other races.

Not true for my AG in Canada: 1-5 were AWA. Very good indicator for sizing up the competition. Don’t know if they were “golds” or not. Coincidence or not, but 1-4 finished in increasing bib number.
