For those of you that have not yet competed in Port Macquarie - Home of the Australian Ironman - the following link will take you to and let you view 33 Photo’s - including notes about the course. Oh - Each photo has Camden Haven Triathlon on it - I forgot to take it off my camera from last weekends race at “Camden Haven” so sorry about that…
I hope these help!!! Please yell out if I can do something for you (any of you!!!) before, during or even after the race…
the course looks great. Will have to watch this race live someday for sure!
Who do you think will take it out this year?
Do you know how quick the entries filled for the 2009 ironman there?
Interesting to see IMNZ has the highest entry of all time this year for the event, and that is supposedly in a recession. triathlon seems recession proof!
How far is Port Mac from Cairns. Can you fly or would you drive between the two? My family live in Cairns, so if I can make it through my 1st Tri season I am thinking about making IM OZ my 1st IM so I can visit the family and do a race at the same time.
If you want to take on Lance Armstrong maybe you could ride down to Port from Cains. By the time you get here you will either be fit enough or siitting in the hospital bed he was in when he had his left one cut out!!!
If anyone wants to know more please post your replies and I (or other Aussies who know the course) will let you know what we can…
It got to around 35 Deg C here in Port Macquarie today. It was forecast to be 47 Deg C in Sydney over the weekend. That is F#$%ing HHHOOOTTT. Top part of Australia Flooding - Bottom part heat waves? Can’t work it out???If I could predict what the weather was going to be like on race day “April 5th” I wouldn’t need to keep my day job…
Here is a little tip from someone who lives in Cairns.I would do the Ironman first and then come up to visit your folks.Cairns is not a great place to visit let alone train for Ironman around this time of year.It is hot, humid and really wet,so much so that we use our trainers during the summer and not the winter like the rest of the planet. The roads are the shit during our wet season which does not finish until the end of March so if you are planning to come early to train you are better off crashing with Nashy or someone else from Port Mac until after the event.
Now if you want to come and get used to the heat and humidity for Ironman/Ultraman Hawaii then that’s a different story.
I heard something on the news about two males, a 15 year old and a 31 year being taken in for questioning and that they expect the death toll to go above 200. If they did start any of the fires they will need to be put somewhere VERY safe for a while - “for there own safety”. Some of the photos of the fire coming thru are amazing, there would be no way to escape it! It would be a shocking way to go!!!
