Aussies?

Hey team,

I’m trying to put together a trip to australia hoping to go roughly Aug 20ish - Septemper 10ish. I wanted to get some feedback on where to go this time of year to get some nice weather and where to go in general…I know that ST has some accomplished travelers and people from all arounds, so any input would be awesome…also, any good races this time of year?

CP

It will be winter so you won’t find much in the way of triathlons. Head north to the Gold Coast or even further to get the best weather.

Weather wise stay north of Sydney - will still be a bit colder down south. Plenty of good beaches and coastal towns to stop off at on the way. If you’ve got time head up to Cairns or the Whitsunday Islands and head out to the Great Barrier Reef. Sunshine Coast an hour north of Brisbane is always a favourite. If you really want to do something different head up to Darwin and hit Kakadu National Park - will be warm and pleenty of wildlife (i.e. crocs) to see. You could even fly up via Alice Springs and head out to Uluru (Ayers Rock - bloody big rock - sounds boring but its spectacular). Depends on where you fly in and out of.

Re events, theres a few tri’s on up north - Coral Coast tri is on in Cairns on the 26th Aug and Airlie Beach Tri (which is on the coast from the Whitsundays) is on the 9th Sept. Have a look at this - http://www.eventlist.com.au/

Hope that helps

here is a link to some HIM races, one of which falls in your travel times.
