Please consider the amount of sticky threads at the top of the page. There is nothing I love more about ST than the ever changing dynamic of threads that hit the top of the page. When you have 4 or so threads stickied, it becomes kind of annoying and gimmicky. Like some other forums out there. (I won’t mention any names)
I have no issue with these they have decided to stick at the top.

It is not the content of the threads, it is the number of them. The content is good, and worthy of discussion, chances are they would stay up top anyway.
the poll “explanation” thread will be up there consistently for the time being. Eventually, I’ll make a little “help” button for the poll itself that will have more instructions. But I want to give people a couple more weeks just to get used to seeing the poll, checking to see when it changes, etc.
the “new feature” thread which explains the “toggle” feature will only be up there for about 24 hours. It just to inform people.
As Dan & I make changes to the site, we’ll probably have more sticky threads than normal, just to inform people of changes, etc. I agree that right now, it’s a bit excessive to have four sticky threads (three “info” threads + the “ABOUT THE FORUM” thread), but the reality is, if I put that stuff anywhere else, nobody would read it!

I would just like to say when I click on other forums, and 1/2 of the front page is perma-stickies, that is lame.
I totally agree that it can get out of hand, which I also see on other sites.

the only sticky poll that is going to be sticky forever is “Things to know about this forum.” any other stickies now there are temporary. election: that happens once a year, that’ll be there for 3 or so days. the others, as soon as the poll is pretty well understood by everybody, and the kinks are out, that’s gone.
as jordan says, we’ve got big changes coming down the pike, so more stickies will appear from time to time, but briefly and temporarily.
Again, thank you guys, you are doing a great job with the forum and all the recent changes are excellent. I just hope you guys don’t lose focus with the things that made this forum such a great place. Perhaps I should have sent my comments as a pm, but thanks for responding anyway.
