Ok I just got my PT Pro up and running. Have a couple of questions:
Intervals - I notice it says that it only displays 9 but something along the lines that it can do limitless intervals. Does this mean that if you keep pressing the two buttons (ie take a split) that even though it shows 9 it keeps recording the subsequent splits? Can you then review these through the computer or do you have to wait until you download it?
Multi sessions - Do you have to download eash session or does it store them all in there? I rode on Tuesday and didn’t download. I then rode today (Thurs) and when I did the memory recall it doesn’t show what happened on Tuesday. The Interval 1 reset to today.
Discs - Do you think you could send a disc away to a manufacturer (or some form of carbon expert) and get them to cut out the old hub and build the PT into it? Perhaps a pipe dream!
I use Cyclingpeaks, so all of these answers pertain to that;
Intervals: yes, you can see and review every interval after your download.
multi-day: I try to download everyday but sometimes I forget so the rides do get loaded on top of each other. when you download to CP, it does separate the days and you can drag and drop them into the appropriate dates.
disc: call rich at wheelbuilder.com and have him cut you a custom cover. only option I know of.
The link you provided says that the Disc wheels are excluded from being able to be built with a powertap. I pretty much exhausted this ave. as this is what I really wanted, but ended up going with a cover from wheelbuilder for like $70. The cover works great, weighs a little over a pound (around 500g), but I could always loose another couple of pounds myself! If you don’t want to race with a cover the only other PowerTap option is to buy like an 808 or someother type of race wheel with the hub built, but this can cost you $$$$1,500, from all3 sports.
I wish I read that one too…would be a nice addition. Sad to say I don’t think it’s true-
From Zipps website,
“With the recent popularity of the Powertap hub, we have had more and more requests for Powertap wheels. Well, ask and you shall receive. New for 2005, all of our 700c rear wheels (discs and z wheels excluded) can be built with the Powertap hub system. Now you can train and race with power measurement without making concessions to aerodynamics or weight.”
MV, one of the best aspects of powertraining is that when you do ANYTHING, you see it within seconds on the display (depending on your settings), or on your graph. Personally, I wouldn’t worry one bit about taking the time to hit the interval button. When you download, you can see very clearly (depending on how much you smooth out your graph) every interval, which you can then pick out and look at in full detail. You’ll be off by a couple seconds, but in the grand scheme of everything, it’s more important you’re getting the interval in.
good catch Chris - I didn’t realize this. I saw the price a few months ago and just moved right over it and moved on to wheelbuilder too and got myself the wheel cover as well. I used it in LP and i think it worked pretty well.
