I had a thread about buying a LCD screen for my CT, I did that. There are no instructions with it, I am frustrated. I am hooking it thru my laptop, it either says “no signal” or I did get a picture (distorted with no icons) and then it said “out of range” can anyone help me with this please?
have you tried calling them? i did this last year and they were pretty helpful.
i don’t know about the out of range, but what operating system are you running? Windows XP? is it a problem with the lcd or the computer…have you ever hooked it up to a tv before?
I’d change the resolution on your laptop to 640 x 480 first, and then try attaching the monitor. If you bought too big a monitor or have it at too high a resolution, your computer might not be able to drive it…
ok, i’ll try that first. The LCD screen is wide 20.1 I posted here before i bought it to make sure it would work (not that slowtwitch is full proof!) what about the screen 1 or 2 thing? do i need to switch that?
Screen 1 or 2 is so that you can hook up 2 computers 2 one monitor. Whichever one gives you the distorted screen is the right 1. If there is an auto-sync button on the monitor, push it while you have the fuzzy screen. You may have to go through a menu on the monitor to find it or check the manual.
can you set your computer to only mirror the main screen? That’d probably be the easiest for now.
I second a call to Racermate tech support. We needed assistance getting our multi-rider system up and running and they were very helpful. We are running two big screen flat panels simultaneously and that took some work.
Does the monitor work with your laptop at all? Does it work with just windows running and then not work when you start the CT software? You should contact your laptop or monitor manufacturer first, to get those two working, and then worry about the CT.
Try to get your laptop to output video to the monitor without the CT running first. Some laptops do this automatically; some you have to activate the feature.
For Dell notebooks, you activate this by pressing Fn+F8.
After you’re all booted up just hit your key and key at the same time. That should toggle your screens and the LCD will work.
yeah this worked, thanks. I tried that, didn’t work, tried again and it did. Not sure what i did different, hopefully i can duplicate!
Great, glad you got it. I often have to hook my laptop to Projectors and screens for presentations at different sites. Sometimes it just works but the Fn/F8 trick never seems to fail me.
how do you have your monitor hooked up to your laptop?
i have an s-video hookup to a plasma that i sometimes have trouble with trying to split the two screens. can i do this F8 trick for s-vid?
Sorry, I don’t think I can help, you’ve already gone well beyond my level of technical expertise.
I have an LCD monitor hooked to my laptop now with your standard 15 pin connector that comes with most computer monitors. Never tried s-video with my PC
gotcha. thanks!
