Hello jpflores and All,

Thanks for posting.

John Novitsky had an impressive ride for an old dude 52 years old.

I met him at the San Diego Low Speed Wind Tunnel awhile back when he was testing his new P4.

I talked with him before the TT ride - his plan was to hammer the straights and recover a bit on the corners.

Cheers,

Neal

Great ride for Kevin on a borrowed bike:

12 2 47:31.6 O’ CONNOR Kevin +1:16.27

I wonder if he’ll post his power file from the ride.

Hehe…I see my SB homey Craig managed not to get “chicked” by Chrissie…only by a second though
.

That puts Macca 4:34 behind stage winner Tony Martin; or good enough for 58th place out of 84.

edit - …and Cervelo TestTeam’s Dominique Rollin just manages not to get chicked by Chrissie. (I’m assuming a mechanical.)

Chris would have slotted in the 58th position in the race. Out of the 84 that finished he would have been in the 69th precentile. He averaged over 27.1mph and still finished 58th.

I guess that really shows the pure cycling ability of the big boys, especially after the previous days big ride.

Sorry should have used pink font! I was joking that he was doping so he wouldnt be chicked.

Aaah…so you were using Chrissie as the “Millar line” in this event…got it. IIRC, he does have a fondness for drinks from Starbucks that require semi-complicated ordering…does that count?

So, Macca averaged 27.1 mph and Chrissie was at 24.8 mph.

I wonder if any of the top ITU gals have the kind of power that Chrissie has on the bike. If this was a technical course (for triathletes, or something like that), would the strong ITU girls be faster than Chrissie (who many people have noted to be a poor bike handler - maybe her, I don’t know) in a TT like this?

I don’t think he was racing with a power meter…he didn’t get to use his wheels.

WHATTT?!?!?! Where was I? I didn’t realize so many people got to go on the couse. I would have LOVED to do this course. How did one qualify to be able to race the course? I think I could have had a shot at the podium!

Based on the number of Trek Speed Concepts being ridden and the fact that the bike was launched that day, I believe most of the riders had some affiliation with Trek (dealers, etc) as well as some of the other sponsors.

All you had to do is pony up $1350, or find someone to do it for you…

Kinda like a poor man’s etape.

Kinda like a poor man’s etape.

Poor?

Ouch, really shows the impressive power of those cyclist especially considering the previous day’s stage and weeks of racing. I watched Lieto almost eat it on a pretty basic turn and Macca seemed to be uncomfortable with the handling as well.

So, Macca averaged 27.1 mph and Chrissie was at 24.8 mph.

Versus 30.0 mph for the stage winner, Toni Martin.

Based on these results (and the description of the course), I’m thinking that Macca would have been at risk of getting chicked by somebody like Kristen Armstrong (if she were still racing) or Amber Neben (if she were fully fit).
