Those things are a bitch to get open. Usually leaving the corners wrapped as the foil seperates. Then you just have to bite whatever you can get to. On the bike course will they open the bars before they hand them out?
Yeah, and if you slow down enough, they’ll even feed you as well. No need to get your hands sticky ; ). Sorry, couldn’t resist. I’m pretty sure they “crack” the bottle caps ahead of time but I don’t remember having the bars pre-peeled. It’d be a nice touch though.
I seem to recall they handed out half powerbars at florida similar to the way they hand out half-bananas.
I know, I know. They’re just a pain in the ass to get open though. I usually cut mine up and put in non-stick aluminum foil for my rides so I don’t have to fight them while on the bike. I’m not pasting them to my top tube either. I might wrap my own in Al foil for the race as well.
Pre-cut in halves or thirds. Not peeled.
Also at IMC - they will hand you a half bar, with a half wrapper on it. But I just knuckled under and got a ‘Bento-box’ style wee baggie for my top tube. Good idea with the foil there.
